Round three of the Victorian Netball League will see the next generation of Melbourne Vixens battle it out, as training partner will match up against training partner during Wednesday night’s clash.

The Southern Saints made a statement against close rivals Melbourne University to shoot to the top of the VNL ladder with a 50-44 victory.

The win has kept the Saints undefeated start to the VNL season alive, with the side sitting two points clear of a strong chasing pack which includes Geelong Cougars (2-0) and North East Blaze (2-0).

While the match was in the balance through the fourth term, it was several crucial forced turnovers while at their own end that proved the difference for the Saints as they managed two clear passages of scoring to pull away from the Lightning by six points.
