In a hotly contested contest, the Geelong Cougars left with two wins from three over the City West Falcons in Round 2 of the Victorian Netball League.
In the Championship division, the competition’s most successful team, the Falcons, fell to an incredibly consistent Cougars side, 58-44.
In just the first quarter, the Cougars pushed a 10-goal margin that made it too hard for the Falcons to overcome.
With a major out to Covid in goaler Jane Cook, the Falcons shooting circle was led by Uneeq Palavi, who had just come off an MVP-winning performance at the Pacific Aus Sports Series representing Tonga.
Cougars’ player Zara Walters was also praised for her performance, having only just been elevated to Championship division for season 2022.
