The Cougars extended the margin in the second quarter to go to halftime with an imposing 38-17 scoreline.

The Bull Sharks did show plenty of resolve to reduce the deficit to just 15 goals at the final change, but that was as close as they got.

Goal shooter Nalani Makunde was in fine touch with 56 goals at 88.89 per cent, with centre Chaise Vassallo and wing attack Jessica Laga’aia providing her with countless opportunities.

But it was defensively where the Cougars did most of their damage.

Goal attack Mia Stower had minimal impact for the Bull Sharks, while Kirra Tappenden (21/72.41%) and goal shooter Kaylin van Greunen (20/58.82%) lacked their usual zip under the net.

The Bull Sharks will now have to regroup quickly as the come up against a buoyant Sunshine Coast Thunder, who knocked the Gold Coast Titans out of their thrilling elimination final.

In a seesawing contest, both would have been worthy winners but their could only be one as the Thunder crept home by the narrowest of margins, 58-57.

Goal shooter Sally Jenkins (45/84.91) was a potent force and well supported by Natalie Sligar (13/76.47%), while wing attack Baylee Boyd enjoyed a strong game.

For the vanquished, Kourtnee Baird tried hard in the mid court and goal shooter Roxanne Rhind (27/87.10%) and Josie Bingham (19/55.88%) were both solid.

In the Ruby semi-finals, Kedron-Wavell overcame a dogged Gold Coast Titans 57-53 to win through to the grand final.

The Titans will now take on TAE Aerospace Jets, who comfortably saw off the Brisbane South Wildcats 74-50 in their eliminator.

It has been a hard fought season with very close games so it is exciting to be still involved in the competition. The competition between the top four teams has been very close and this has created an environment where teams have needed to be at their best every week.”

Expectations against Bond University: “It will be a hard fought game that will need all players to produce their best netball. In our two games against Bond each team has had a win and the winning margins were very close.”

This moment represents three years of hard work, we’ve faced our share of challenges, but through it all, these 10 remarkable athletes have believed in the vision, trusted the process, and committed fully. I would give them my all every day, and I’m so proud of what they’ve achieved together with my staff.”

Expectations against Kedron-Wavell: “We’ve worked hard all season to put ourselves in this position, now it’s about the girls trusting that work and delivering when it matters.

Which players will be key in the finals: “All 10 of my players have stepped up throughout the season, and all 10 will play a role in this match. Some bring valuable finals experience, others are experiencing it for the first time, but they’ll come together and back each other all the way.

GOLD COAST

Which players will be key in the finals: “Josie Bingham has been consistent this season and when she’s having a confident game, our attack end fires. Likewise in defence, Del Fiso can bring the spark that lifts the entire team. Every player in our group will need to stand up in Finals though, and that will be key to our success.
