2025 Langer Trophy live stream: Keebra Park SHS v Ipswich SHS, Round 6

Ipswich has been the latest to feel the wrath of the unstoppable Keebra Park outfit in the Langer Trophy. Check out the revealing REPLAY and two others from the huge triple-header.

A blistering 10-minute burst of play was all Keebra Park needed to snuff out any challenge Ipswich may have presented in Tuesday’s Langer Trophy clash.

Keebra dominated the opening 10 minutes of the round 6 clash, scoring three straight tries, before eventually finishing 48-6 victors in a one-sided affair.

It took them all of two minutes to hit the scoreboard, with a blistering run from a teammate – that included three broken tackles – allowing Israel Lotaki the opportunity to find the try line.

Two immediate tries followed before the eight minute mark, with Ipswich’s defense unable to handle the pure weight of forward momentum they were met with to start the game.

Already up 16-0, Keebra’s domination continued for the rest of the contest but Ipswich’s ability to stifle some of that early momentum was rewarded with a second-half try to Cordell Kirk and a successful conversion from Taupale Sauso.

Keebra held sway from the outset in their Schoolgirls Cup tie with Ipswich despite it being a low-scoring affair.

Heading the sheds at halftime with an 8-0 lead, Keebra withheld every attacking foray from Ipswich in the back half as they extended their lead to 12-0.

Ipswich did manage to pull back a converted try in the final minute but that was as close as they came before going down 12-6.

PREVIEW

Ipswich State High knows it needs to find another level if it is going to topple Langer Trophy heavyweights Keebra Park SHS.

The two schoolboys cup giants will go head-to-head in a rare Tuesday showdown at Southport Tigers RLFC.

The mouth-watering top four battle will headline a big triple header of schools league action exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV, which includes the Walters Cup (Year 10) and NRL Schoolgirls Cup clashes.

Keebra Park comes into the contest with a major target on their backs. The Gold Coast nursery is flying in 2025, undefeated through five rounds and coming off a massive 66-0 thumping of Stretton State College.

But the Ippy boys have been building nicely into the back half of the season with back-to-back wins in their past two games including last week’s physical two-point triumph over Mabel Park SHS.

“We need to use the platform we built against Mabel Park and move further forward,” Ipswich coach Josh Bretherton said.

“Mabel Park played very physical and very aggressive, so we were pumped with the result to get away with the win and for it to be close like that.

“We have to use that feeling and try and set the same defensive standard against Keebra Park.

“Keebra have been excellent against everyone this season. They are red hot and they deserve to be considered favourites.”

The Glitter Strip giants have put together a scintillating highlights reel over the first half of the Schoolboys Cup season, with their electric fullback David Bryenton featuring prominently.

It comes as little surprise that the Australian schoolboys star will be a key target for Ipswich.

Bretherton got an up close look at Bryenton during his time as Queensland coach at the ASSRL Nationals earlier this month, but as for any weaknesses he spotted, he was keeping tight-lipped.

“He is playing unbelievably good football at the moment,” Bretherton said.

“I got to see him up close during the national titles and I was in awe. At the moment I am just impressed with what I have seen.

“How well we contain David is going to have an impact on the game.”

Winning the battle of the forward pack grind will be one way to limit Bryenton’s potential impact on the contest, but it might be easier said than done.

“It’s something that largely goes unnoticed with their game, but they are one of the most physical schools in the competition,” Bretherton said.

“They have some excellent outside backs to score tries, and some teams would be happy to purely rely on those weapons in their arsenal and win games 36-20 or so.

“But they aren’t. They want to get physical in defence and aim up in the middle just as much as they want to score points.

“What we need is a collective effort. It is a good opportunity for our side. We were much happier with the Mabel Park game. Across the board we were happy with how we defended together and worked hard in the grind. It was a much more team-based performance.

“We need that again. After all, it wont be two or three guys alone that will beat this Keebra Park side.”
