Football Victoria has capped off a strong start to the National Futsal Championships on the final day of the regular round action. Watch all of the replays from Pitch 5.

Victoria’s successful run at the National Futsal Championships in Melbourne continued on Wednesday with the open men’s team defeating Queensland to improve their record to 4-0.

The southern state’s Under-17 girls side also gave plenty of reasons to cheer after they held on for a nailbiting draw against top of the table NSW Lightning to remain undefeated through the regular rounds.

The tournament hosts have dominated the Open Mens competition, keeping a clean sheet in two of their four games thus far in the tournament.

Forward pressure rewarded Victoria with their first goal against Queensland when Atay Ibrahim laid a brilliant tackle, which set up a nice finishing goal for Scott Rogan in the 7th minute.

Victoria grabbed another when Cosimo Russo proceeded with a nice finish after laying a brilliant tackle from halfway.

On the brink of halftime, Victoria’s Scott Rogan set up Corey Sewell for an easy tap in goal to put Victoria up 3-0.

A silky bit of play leaves his opponent behind.

Queensland’s Connor George flicked a ball through in style in the 27th minute to keep his side in the match.

A comeback looked a chance when Queensland’s Pascal Budini-Glass hit the crossbar with 10 minutes remaining in the game.

Victoria sealed the deal, however, when Henrique Pimenta guided a shot into the bottom corner to make it 4-1.

To put the icing on the cake, Cosimo Russo scored a celebratory tap-in goal in the 20th minute, making it 5-1 to the team in blue.

PITCH 5 PREVIEW

Football Queensland will have one final shot at squeezing into the finals of the Open Women’s division at the National Futsal Championships.

The maroon marauders have struggled to find their footing across the week-long event at Melbourne Sport’s Centre in Parkville.

But a mouth-watering clash against rivals Football Victoria. Which will highlight the fast-paced action on Field 5 on Wednesday, offers a last-ditch chance to leapfrog NSW Lightning into fourth spot.

The championships are exclusively live streamed by KommunityTV, including action from two fields each day during the regular rounds.

Our Field 5 coverage, which focuses on the older age groups, will include matches from the Open Age Men, Open Age Women and Under-17 girls.

The showdown between Football Queensland and Football Victoria women will highlight the action at 3pm, while both states will also kick off the day in the Open Age Men.

Football West’s Open Age Men’s side has narrowly held onto their spot in the finals on goal difference but will need to overcome Football NSW Lightning to guarantee a top four finish.
