2025 Emerging Socceroos Championships live stream: Victoria eyes glory on home soil

The son of a legendary NPL goalscorer is among the young guns looking to keep the Emerging Socceroos Championships titles in Victoria as they welcome the nation’s best.

Victoria is eyeing championship glory on home soil.

The Emerging Socceroos Championships kick off on Sunday, bringing together the best under-15 and 16 talents in Australia.

Held at the Home of the Matildas, host state Victoria is looking to make it a hat-trick of under-15 titles and recapture the under-16 crown last won in 2023.

Every match across the six-day tournament can be watched live and exclusive on Kommunity TV.

Victoria Blue emerged victorious in the under-15 tournament last year with grand final heroes Jensen Bowering and Luke Becvinovski looking to repeat in the 16s.

Becvinovski is one name to watch after making his senior VPL1 debut for Melbourne City last month.

The 16-year-old, the son of legendary NPL goalscorer Sash, showed off his composure to score the match-winning goal after coming on as a substitute just 15 minutes earlier.

The young gun was also named in the Joeys squad for the recent Hohhot tournament in China, facing off against Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and the host nation.

International teammate Oliver O’Carroll, Winston Ashburner and William Kengni will join him in a stacked Victoria Blue Under-16 squad.

Former New Zealand international and South Melbourne great Vaughan Coveny will coach the Victoria Blue under-15s, looking to take the team to a third straight win.

“We’ve had a good preparation and all the boys are excited to get started,” Coveny said.

“Last year, we were lucky enough to beat South Australia in the final, it’s a very competitive tournament.

“It’s a identification tournament for the national selectors to have a look but we’re all winners, so we want to put on a good performance.

“After last year we had five or six in our age group represent Australia, so that’s a great achievement.

“We do as much as we can to expose the boys to these tournament conditions and the pressure that comes with it.”

Coveny will be joined by South Melbourne teammate, former Western United assistant and current Heidelberg United coach John Anastasiadis (U16 Blue) among the coaches.

Brighton Grammar’s Andy Burnett (U15 Silver), North Geelong’s Sean Mahon (U15 White), Bentleigh Greens’ Ekrem Geylan (U16 Silver) and FV Academy’s Mallan Roberts (U16 Silver) will also take on coaching roles.

“Hopefully we can pass on some good knowledge to these players and they can enjoy the week and, at the same time, get some good performances out of them,” Coveny said.

Most of the Victorians are involved in A-League academies at either Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City or Western United but several local clubs are also represented.

Malvern City (Patrick Govranos), Port Melbourne (Tyson Cauchi), North Geelong Warriors (Nick Skorjanec, Nathan Niarhos), Essendon Royals (Nate Bradley, Daniel Gale) and Bentleigh Greens (Elliott Derricott) all have players selected.
