Victoria Bushrangers hit the last 16 points of the game to turn around an 11-point deficit against NSW Waratahs and win the U18 boys title at the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup in Albury.

Seemingly down and out when trailing 50-39 with four minutes left, Victoria powered home to win 55-50 and bring five days of thrilling basketball to an exciting conclusion.

NSW led at all three changes but couldn’t cope with the Bushrangers’ swarming pressure when it mattered most.

Earlier, Tasmania (boys) and South Australia (girls) took the U14 titles, while Victoria Goldminers held off a fast-finishing Victoria Bushrangers to grab the U18 girls honours.

A big first defensive effort proved decisive in the U18 girls decider as Goldminers pulled off a six-point victory, 49-43.

The Bushrangers actually took the second half honours 24-20, but they had a massive mountain to climb after only scoring 19 points after the first two quarters.

Meanwhile, Tasmania Devils upstaged Victoria Goldminers in a thriller to take the U14 boys title.

The Devils led by two points at quarter time and by the same margin at halftime. The Goldminers closed the advantage to one-point - 36-35 - at the final change before the Devils showed more composure under pressure to win 51-47.

Meanwhile, South Australia Magpies have been crowned U14 girls champions after an impressive win over Tasmania Devils. The Magpies led by two points - 15-13 - at the main break before the Devils mounted a third quarter comeback to tie the scores at 27-27 heading into the final eight minutes.

South Australia saved their best until last, hitting 15 points in a dominant display to come away with a 42-33 victory.
