It was a battle that well and truly lived up to the hype and while Victoria Country didn’t lose any fans, it was ultimately NSW Metro that finished the group stages with an unblemished record on Thursday.
The two standout girls’ sides of pool B played off in a final round overtime thriller with the result going right down to the wire – NSW Metro eventually winning 66-59.

Olivia Hastings continued her stellar campaign, finishing with 20 points and 14 rebounds for NSW while Mica Nightingale finished with a 12 points, 12 rebounds double-double for Victoria.
With NSW holding a seven-point advantage at three-quarter time, it appeared the game was theirs for the taking.
But a 9-0 run late in the final quarter from Vic Country ensured it would go right down to the wire.
Scores were tied at 50-50 with just over a minute on the clock after a terrific drive to the bucket from Nightingale found the hole, before Hastings responded to give her side a two point advantage with 58 seconds on the clock.
A deep jumper from Mia Harvey following time-out then squared the ledger again with a Nightingale three on the buzzer falling short and sending the contest to overtime.
In other major results on day four, Victoria Metro boys got back on the winners list with an impressive 78-65 win over Queensland South.
After dropping a game to pool A leaders Western Australia Metro on Wednesday, the Vics were out for vengeance and intent on remaining in second-place on the table heading into finals.
Finals will kick-off on Friday following the conclusion of the group stages with tip-off from 9am.
