Guilford Young College has sewn up a quarter-final spot in the Under-20 Division 1 women’s tournament with a dominant day three win.
Tasmanian representative stars Chloe Broomhall and Claire Murray combined for 23 points, as the proud nursery powered past rivals Trinity Anglican College.

Guilford Young College finished in a three-way tie at the top of Pool B in the women’s tournament, as Queensland rivals Mountain Creek State High and Southport State High both finished with 3-1 records as well.
Sotuhport State High tuned up for the quarter-finals with a 38-point demolition of Sydneysiders Pymble Ladies College on Wednesday.
Jayla Cassidy, who has averaged 17 points per game for the tournament, took it up a notch with a powerful 34-point display which included 16 makes from the floor.
Cassidy wasn’t alone with Eden Lauaki and Jaya Lowe also reaching double digits in the 84-46 win.

Hillcrest Christian College booked themselves a berth in the Under-20 Division 1 men’s finals with a 20-point win over Haileybury College, while Marcellin College suffered its first loss of the tournament on a rollercoaster day.
After earlier accounting for Brisbane Grammar School by nine points, Marcellin couldn’t match the firepower of rivals St James College.
Four of St James’ starting five hit double digits as they finished the pool stage equal-first with Marcellin at 4-1.

Marcellin College superstar Harrison Beauchamp will have a chance to etch his name in the Basketball Australia Schools Championships record books as the Victorian school chases a quarter-final spot.
Beauchamp has been a man possessed on the Gold Coast, averaging a cool 27 points as the Marcellin side went on a three-game unbeaten run to start the tournament.
They have knocked off St Dominic’s College, The Scots College and Victorian rivals Berwick College but arguably face their toughest test on a big day three.
