Lake Ginninderra College’s gold medal redemption story is in full swing after the boys from the nation’s capital booked a one-way ticket to the semi-finals.

A year on from crashing to The Southport School in the schools championships grand final, the Lakers showed no signs of slowing down in a 17-point quarter-final win over Don College.

Lake Ginninderra stars Jacob Furphy, Aleer Chol and Ajak Nyuon were put on ice for the final quarter, but had already done the damage combining for 63 points in the 91-74 win over the Donkeys.

They will be joined in the semi-finals by a red-hot Brisbane Boys College who knocked off Willetton Senior High by 48 points in the quarter-finals.

The Queensland state champions have been building to a performance like this with big man Emerson Juhasz reaping the reward of big minutes with 18 points, six rebounds and five steals.

Rowville Seconday College has a chance to book a third-straight gold medal match after they powered past John Paul College in a competitive quarter-final.

While Rowville, led by a 16-point haul to Australian junior representative Emilija Dakic, finished 18-point winners, it was far from as comfortable as the scoreline suggests.

In the other women’s quarter final on court one, it was the Aspen Crase and Sienna Lehmann show, as Immanuel College booked its spot in the semi-finals.

Crase and Lehmann combined for more than half the team’s total as Immanuel beat Willetton 80-65.
