Preview: Tasmania putting in the work ahead of ACJBC

Buoyed by their impressive showing in 2023, Tasmania are sending a big representation to the mainland this week for the Australian Junior Country Basketball Cup in Albury and Wodonga.

The tournament features teams representing NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, as well as New Zealand, in the U14, U16 and U18 age groups.

Tasmania impressed in 2023, winning the U14 boys title, finishing second and third in the U14 girls and fourth in the U18 boys, and will be looking for more impressive results from their 12 teams.

And they are featuring prominently on a big opening day of LIVE STREAM coverage on KommunityTV.

Tasmania will have four teams on show, one from the girls competition in Albury and three from the boys event in Wodonga.

Catch 10 games from both venues (five each) LIVE and EXCLUSIVE from 8.30am.

Check out the schedule below.

The U18 boys Devils team, who were beaten in a playoff for fifth last year, start their new campaign with a tough assignment against Victoria Goldminers in Wodonga.

The U16 boys Devils follow straight after against NSW Kookaburras before the U14 boys Tigers side then play the team they beat in last year’s decider, Victoria Goldminers.

Meanwhile, the Devils U16 girls team features on court at Lauren Jackson Sports Centre against SA Magpies.

The younger Tasmanian girls did well in 2023 with the U14s finishing second (Devils) and third (Tigers) behind the SA Magpies.
