The eagerly anticipated Kumon National Junior Classic is underway, as some of Australia’s best junior basketballers battle it out for glory.
Across the June long weekend, KommunityTV will stream 128 games from Dandenong and Knox thanks to its ongoing partnership with Basketball Victoria.
There was a range of standout performances throughout the opening day of the hotly-contested tournament. Check out who impressed on Saturday at the State Basketball Centre:
Under-16 Boys
Frankston’s dynamic duo of Max Meaney and Nicholas Beattie combined early in the day for 43 points to lead their side to an impressive win over Norths Bears.
Joaquin Gonzalez scored 30 points in a losing effort.
Under-16 Girls
If we see two better performances throughout the tournament from two different players, let alone one, we’ll be shocked.

Bankstown Bruins star Jesse-May Hall put on a pair of dazzling shooting displays with 44 points in each game to start the tournament in stunning fashion. They both produced wins.
Under-18 Boys
The shooters have lit up the first day of our live stream coverage with some stunning performances.
Top single-game honours went to Norwood’s Alex Dodson, who finished with 33 points in the loss to Manly Warringah.
Jonah Vaysbakh (28 points) and Vaughn Prosser (25) combined to lead the Sea Eagles to an important win in the same game.
Dodson enjoyed a terrific afternoon with 25 points later in the day against Geelong United. Max Zalakos also scored 25 for United.
Bulleen’s Joel Foxwell was the other player to score above 30 in the live stream games, finishing with 31 in a 17-point win over Sydney Comets.
Anthony Mundine Jr, son of the boxing star of the same name, finished with 25 in a losing effort.
Oscar Dunn (Nunawading), Ben Young (Eastern Mavericks), Luke Fennell (Knox), Lekahi Rasmussen (Sturt), Isaac Ayoubi (Sydney Comets and Kobe McMechan (Nunawading) were other players to score more 20 points throughout the day.
Under-18 Girls
Several players put up big numbers on the live stream courts throughout the day, including Sienna Grieger who scored 21 points in West Adelaide’s loss to Kilsyth.
Hannah Day finished with 18 in the same encounter.
Frankston’s Bonnie Deas finished with 21 points in her side’s win over Hornsby Kurangai.
Tabitha Betson (Bulleen), Hannah Gardiner (Forestville) and Mia Walker-Roberts (Sturt) were other players to score 20 points in our live games.
