Parade College has stormed through to the Herald Sun Shield senior boys division one decider with a 63-point victory over Padua College on Wednesday.
The school from Melbourne’s northern suburbs dictated the semi-final from the first bounce and made the most of their opportunity in front of goals at Trevor Barker Oval.

Laird Ramshaw put together an impressive performance to be named best afield for Parade in the 11.12 (78) to 2.3 (15) win.

Meanwhile, Kristian Lawson and Noah Scott put together impressive performances in the middle of the ground.

Riley Ormerod, Zak Johnson and Ty Kitchell were also named in the better players for Parade. Isaac Freene was best for Padua.

Parade will now face Maribyrnong College after it powered its way into the grand final with a big 15.10 (100) to 7.10 (52) victory over Ballarat Clarendon College.

Kayne Rutley and Lachlan Fitzgerald did all of the damage inside forward 50 with five goals apiece.

Jayden Nguyen was superb in the midfield.

PREVIEW

Parade College is confident of putting on a show in the Herald Sun Shield despite one of its big names set to miss Wednesday’s semi-final.

It has been confirmed Nate Caddy will miss the senior boys clash with Padua College at Trevor Barker Oval, which will be live streamed on KommunityTV from 10am.

Ballarat Clarendon College will take on Maribyrnong in the second senior semi-final on from 12pm.

Despite the absence of Caddy, who is expected to be a top-10 AFL Draft selection later this year, Parade will still have plenty of talented players in their ranks including Zak Johnson, Isaac Kako and Kristian Lawson.

The school’s sports coordinator Ben Turner said the team was in a lucky position to qualify for the final four of the competition.

Parade qualified after winning the Associated Catholic College (ACC) grand final against St Bede’s in June.

“The boys have a lot pride when it comes to pulling on the Parade jumper,” he said.

“As a school we value where school footy fits in the player’s football journey. We want to help these players progress to the highest level they possibly can.

“The lure of playing in the Herald Sun Shield is something that drives the players throughout the ACC season. It was a much more challenging season with St Patrick’s Ballarat coming across as well.

“We think we’ve set ourselves up well heading into the weekend.”

Turner admitted it was hard for the coaching staff to plan for Wednesday’s clash with Padua given they know so little about the opposition.

Meanwhile Parade’s intermediate boys team will be in action on Tuesday morning, with the game also live streamed, when they take on Marcellin College in their own semi-final.

“We’re embracing the challenge of playing against the best sides across all grades,” Turner said.

“I’m sure the coaches will want to bring an exciting, attacking brand of footy. We want to expose our talented players to the people who will be watching.

“It’s going to be an exciting two days of footy.”
