The Brisbane Lions girls have made an immediate impact on the Coates Talent League, exploding out of the blocks to down Murray Bushrangers 8.7 (55) to 2.0 (12).
The 33-point victory for the Lions was set up in a dynamic first quarter in which they kicked five goals, four behinds to lead 34-0 at the first stoppage.
It took until the third term for the understrength Bushrangers to register their first goal of the afternoon through Destiny Dodd, but the scenes of celebration from the winless Murray side was well worth the wait.

In good signs for the Victorian outfit, they won the second half 12-7 on the scoreboard.
But all the damage had already been done, with the Lions attack spearheaded by slick full forward and AFLW hopeful Rania Crozier.
It was an impressive team effort from the Lions who haven’t had a lot of time on the field as a unit this season.
It also made up for an earlier loss for their boys side, who couldn’t overcome a strong Eastern Ranges team.
Eastern Ranges made short work of an exciting Brisbane Lions Academy side at Highgate Recreation Reserve.
The Ranges side were impressive in wet and blustery conditions, finding their range early in the first quarter and going on with it in the second half to record a 12.10 (82) to 6.7 (43) victory.
Ranges led by 15 points at the first break, and while they were pegged back slightly in the second term, they were unstoppable after the main break.
Led by an impressive midfield effort from Tyson Sruk and Joshua Tovey, as well as a goal double to Clay Tucker, the Ranges side added almost 50 points in the final two quarters.

PREVIEW: Lions Academy quietly growing list of future stars
The Brisbane Lions already have one of the best football prospects in the list with Will Ashcroft impressing in his debut AFL season.
But in the Lions Academy, the club is quietly growing future stars who could one day prosper at the top level.
This weekend, the Lions boys will embark on their final Coates Talent League adventure of the season when they travel south for a massive game, while the girls will also look to pick up a victory. Both games will be live streamed on KommunityTV.
Catch the boys match against mid-table Eastern Ranges from Highgate Recreation Reserve from 1pm on Saturday. The girls’ match against Murray Bushrangers follows straight after. See the full schedule below.
While the Lions boys side might be winless, there has been enough to show they are more than capable of testing themselves against the nation’s best.
Academy male head coach Mitch Hahn was expecting a strong effort.
“We’ve learnt a great deal across this campaign,” he said.
“We’ve cherished the opportunity that has been given to us.”
Among those to perform strongly for the Lions include skipper Brad McDonald.
The 199cm prospect has been a standout in defence, often taking the opposition’s best forwards.
Meanwhile, Sam Marshall has shone in the Lions’ midfield through the first four games having averaged over 30 disposals.
“The key is that all of our guys have improved,” Hahn said.
“One of the challenges has been getting the group together on a consistent basis. Harry Ronchi, Patrick Snell and Ryan Gilder have all grown into their roles extremely well.
“This group has a lot of 17-year-olds who are going to be better for the experience. As we’ve seen with Will Ashcroft in the AFL side, playing at this level only helps with your development.
“Dan Annable is only 16 and has been one of the most exciting players for us this year.
“We went into this competition with a lot of freedom and I think our players have benefited from the opportunity.”
Awaiting the Lions is a different looking Eastern Ranges side who have lost many of their better players to school footy in Victoria.
“They’ll still be more than competitive,” Hahn said.
“When opportunity comes for other players, you usually see them stand up and make the most of those.”
Meanwhile, this weekend will mark the start of the girls’ mini campaign with a clash against the Bushrangers.
The Bushrangers are winless to start the season.
