Dandenong has turned Good Friday into a Great Friday for the club, after cruising to a double delight in the Coates Talent League.
After their women’s side had made short work of Gippsland Power in the day’s opening clash, the boys backed up that effort with a dominant 97-70 win over the Power at Morwel Recreation Reserve.

Earlier in the girls clash, Dandenong rover Mikayla Williamson and halfback Elli Symonds spearheaded a dominant performance as the Stingrays kept themselves within touching distance of the top of the girls Coates League ladder.
The Stingrays, who have been impressive despite their 2-2 start to the season, were almost unstoppable as they ran over the top of the Gippsland Power 12.13(85) to 1.2(8).

There was no way through the Stingrays brick wall backline in the first half, with the Power notching a solitary behind on the scoreboard heading into the main break.
With forwards Eleanor Butler, who finished with three goals, and Sophie Butterworth putting the finishing touches on impressive movements, the Stingrays mounted an insurmountable 40-point lead at halftime.
The Stingrays only improved offensively from there, closing out the match with a four goal, four behind final term against a flagging Power side.
Williamson racked up disposal after disposal through the midfield and on the wings, proving the crucial link between a hard working backline and fast finishing forward line.
PREVIEW: Don’t sleep on the Stingrays women
Switch off late in games and the Dandenong Stingrays girls will be ready to pounce.
Stingrays coach Josh Moore has sung the praises of his side’s ability to find the next level near the end during the opening three rounds of the Coates Talent League season.
Sitting at 1-2, the Stingrays will travel to take on the Gippsland Power on Good Friday, with the game set to be live streamed as part of a doubleheader with the boys on KommunityTV from 11am.
And Moore is hopeful his side can continue building on the “real positives” they’ve displayed so far this season.
“We’ve had a fairly solid run in the first three games and it’s given us an indication of where we sit,” he said.
“There’s been heaps of opportunity and that’s what this competition is all about – development. Our last quarters have been one of the best parts of our game so far.
“Even last week against Eastern Ranges, when the game was probably out of reach, we didn’t roll over and kept fighting until the end.
“I was really proud of the effort.”
The Stingrays have had several impressive performers across their first three rounds, headlined by Mikayla Williamson.
The Vic Country representative continuing on from a strong pre-season, according to Moore.
“She tested really well at testing day and has played some excellent footy to start the season,” he said.
“Mikayla is in the national academy, so that underlines her ability as well. Sophie Butterworth, one of our tall forwards, has been impressive as well.
“She’s a barometer for us. When she’s up and going we’re usually playing some of our best footy.
“But there’s a host of girls I could talk about who have been playing well. The improvement across the group has been really impressive.”
Gippsland Power have endured a tough start to the season, kicking just one goal across their opening two games.
Last week against the GWV Rebels, Ahlee Penry, Amber Schutte and Siena Lane were among the Power’s best players.
But Moore isn’t taking anything for granted.
“It looks like there might be a bit of rain around, which can change things a bit,” he said.
“We try not to get caught up in what the opposition is doing and focus on ourselves.”
In the boys game from 1pm, the Power will be looking to continue their winning ways after a bye in Round 2.
They accounted for the Bushrangers by 37 points in the season opener as Ryan Maric led the way with four goals.
Wil Dawson, Patrick Ireland and Tom Stern were best for the Power.
The Stingrays will be looking for their second straight win after overcoming the Brisbane Lions Academy last Saturday.
Samuel Frangalas, Cooper Simpson, Noah Mraz and Harvey Langford were the Stingrays best
