Krslovic shows lot of promise

KRSLOVIC SHOWS LOT OF PROMISE

Fabijan Krslovic is one of the better stories to come out of the Cairns Taipans season.

He is not flashy but he is a workhorse who gets the job done.

His 12 points and eight rebounds averages in the QBL last season do not pop off the page but those that watched the Cairns Marlin noted he did the dirty work under the bucket that led to their deep playoff run.

Krslovic is a little undersized but could be worth persisting with.

CHASING RICHES IN MINES

Brisbane Bullets training player Jonathon Mines is creating a bit of interest in QBL circles ahead of the 2019 season.

Mines has caught the attention of both northern powerhouses in Townsville and Cairns, who are keen to land him.

He featured in five games for the Southern Districts Spartans last season, averaging almost 14 points and six rebounds a game.

The 27-year-old went to college at New Mexico Highlands.

ADEKPONYA FLAT OUT

WHILE on the topic of the QBL, Cairns’ Matthew Adekponya may not feature this season after going around for the Gold Coast Rollers in 2018.

The aggressive combo-guard is juggling his growing multimedia commitments outside of basketball, with plenty of exciting projects in the pipeline for the former Snake and Roller. That has not stopped clubs calling Adekponya regarding his availability, however.

UNITED SIGN UP JOIS

Melbourne United are taking no chances when it comes to landing back-to-back NBL titles.

United have quietly signed exciting forward Venky Jois for the rest of the NBL season to help with their title run.

While Cairns and Perth opted not to sign injury replacements for Dexter Dernich-Drew and Mitch Norton respectively, United have loaded up, bringing Jois in and asking the previously signed Daniel Trist to make way.

NET RESULT NOT GOOD

What was the go with the tight nets on Saturday afternoon in Cairns?

The three scribes covering the game kept a running tally of how many times the ball got stuck in the net after a basket was scored.

t happened mostly at the away bench end before a ball got caught in the opposite end later in the game.

With the NBL keen on their delay of games warnings, surely the nets were causing the referees a few headaches.
