SEINFELD is arguably one of the greatest TV shows of all time and loved by millions, maybe even billions of people, and one of those fans is certain to be former New York Mets player Keith Hernandez.
Hernandez made guest appearances in three episodes of the famous sitcom and is still raking in the royalties as a result.
Speaking to NJ.com, the legendary first baseman revealed that those cheques keep coming in more than 15 years after his time in front of the camera.
“(I get paid) Every time they show it, I’m going to say they show my episode a lot,” said Hernandez.
“So I’m going to say I get a cheque every month. Nothing less than six weeks.
“They show it all the time. It’s international and everything.
“It used to be almost $1,000. It diminishes as the years go by, so it gives me around $3,000 per year.
“I’ll take it for doing nothing. So you can imagine what Jerry gets. The principal actors, what they get.”
Hernandez played himself in “The Boyfriend: Part One” and “The Boyfriend: Part Two,” while also making a cameo in the series finale in 1998.
He won two World Series with the St Louis Cardinals (1982) and New York Mets (1986) during a career that spanned 16 years.
He was the league MVP in 1979 and an 11-time National League Gold Glove winner as first baseman.
He is perhaps best known for his role in game six of the Mets’ 1986 triumph, where he recorded the second out in the tenth inning to help his side over the line.
