Our experts give you an early shot at finding a winner this weekend.

Saturday: ROSEHILL (10 races, start 12.15pm), FLEMINGTON (9 races, 12.40pm), DOOMBEN (9 races, 13.08pm), MORPHETTVILLE PARKS (9 races, 12.52pm), ASCOT (9 races, 3.34pm). All times EST

FLEMINGTON

BRAD WATERS (Racenet)

NATURE STRIP (Race 6, No.1 – $1.95)

Beaten but not disgraced in The Everest. However, Nature Strip flies down the straight and can bounce back to square the ledger with Giga Kick on Saturday.

Value bet: LUNCIES (Race 4, No.9 – $10)

GILBERT GARDINER (Herald Sun)

SOULCOMBE (Race 4, No.11 – $2.80)

Whispers and wagering suggests Soulcombe will be winning his first Australian start. Sure to be better again in the autumn but from a kind draw (barrier seven) has more upside than all bar the lightly-raced Captain Envious (13). Soulcombe spaced rivals in three of his past four starts, including a 4.3 length win at 2787m.

Value bet: FOXY FRIDA (Race 5, No.7 – $7.50)

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Racing News Editor)

PRIVATE EYE (Race 7, No.2 – $3.10)

He’s been brilliant over the sprint trips this prep and can show what’s he really capable of at the mile.

Value bet: ANGRY SKIES (Race 3, No.3 – $6)

GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun)

ANAMOE (Race 8, No.7 – $1.90)

This could be the Godolphin superstar’s Melbourne swan song and he could do it again in style

Value bet: ANGRY SKIES (Race 3, No.3 – $6)

SIMON MOY (NewsRacing)

PRIVATE EYE (Race 7, No.2 – $3.10)

Let’s hope some respite for punters with the favourites in the three Group 1s. All look very strong chances but Private Eye clearly superior odds.

Value bet: LUNAR FLARE (Race 4, No.5 – $6)

JETT HATTON (Racenet)

NATURE STRIP (Race 6, No.1 – $1.95)

Despite suffering defeat in The Everest, Nature Strip lost no admirers as he was forced to work hard out wide in a high pressure race and was only be beaten in the concluding stages. He loves the straight and think he’ll be saluting.

Value bet: MR BRIGHTSIDE (Race 7 No.5 – $10)

ROSEHILL

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph)

NAVAL SEAL (Race 4, No.7 – $3.50)

Naval Seal will be improved by his solid first-up effort to beat all but the in-form Mahagoni over the Randwick 1600m two weeks ago. He returns to his home track and the 1800m course where he won so impressively back in June beating Willinga Rufio. Naval Seal actually meets Willinga Rufio better at the weights on Saturday.

Value Bet: WINNING VERSE (Race 9, No.3 – $4.60)

MATT JONES (Daily Telegraph)

LAWS OF INDICES (Race 8, No.2 – $4.80)

He brings Cox Plate form into this race which is way better than any other form and he will run the trip out while I’m not sure the favourite Ellsberg will.

Value bet: JAMAEA (Race 7, No.3 – $13)

ADAM SHERRY (Sportsman)

PER INAWAY (Race 5, No.7 – $5)

A former Kiwi who scored a smart first-up win at her Australian debut last campaign and turned on solid effort at her next two before a spell. Drawn ideally to resume with another win.

Value bet: STARMAN (Race 10, No.2 – $7)

DOOMBEN

TRENTON AKERS (Courier Mail)

AUSSIE NUGGET (Race 9, No.5 – $5)

Desperately unlucky last time out and will get to settle wherever he likes from barrier one here. Will take some beating.

Value bet: FREEMAN (Race 1, No.7 – $6)
