Trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young could have two chances to repeat their success of last year in Saturday’s $250,000 Magic Millions Ballarat 2YO Classic (1000m).

The Magic Millions Ballarat 2YO Classic reverted to Victoria’s usual left-handed way of galloping last year after previously being the state’s only race run in a clockwise direction in.

Busuttin and Young won last year’s event with the speedy galloper Cusack, who got home narrowly over local galloper Cover Star while pair also claimed last Saturday’s Cranbourne Cup with impressive winner Uncle Bryn.

Busuttin and Young have nominated two youngsters, Sunsource and Amantine, for the main support race to the $500,000 Ballarat Cup.

Amantine could be the second progeny of the 2018 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Written By to hit the racetrack but Young said the filly was the first yearling by the sire to appear at a yearling sale earlier this year.

Amantine fetched $50,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Sale in January.

Young said Amantine has shown speed when winning and running fourth in Cranbourne jumpouts leading up to her debut.

“She’s a natural little runner,” Young said.

“She can get a little hot but she’s done nothing wrong so far.

“It’s a race where you have to crank them to get up (in the hope of qualifying) for the Magic Millions.

“If she gets there I think she’ll go well.”

Sunsource is a Zoustar colt that fetched $370,000 at the Gold Coast Sale.

Interestingly, Sunsource’s sister Dawn Of Era won twice in Japan.

Sunsource has won twice and finished second in his three jumpouts.

“He’s a nice colt,” Young said.

Melbourne Cup-winning owners Ozzie Kheir and John O’Neill are among those that will race Sunsource.
