RACE 3: GROUP 3 QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES (2600m)

BET: $50 win KINESIOLOGY (7) at $2.80

First Australian start for Chris Waller and looks mighty hard to hold out. Raced seven times in Ireland for a maiden win and five seconds. Thrown in the deep end, straight into 2600m Group 3 at Flemington in Cup Week but Kinesiology has thrived being trained out of Werribee and should be hard to beat first up. Waller won the corresponding race with Soulcombe two years ago. Hard fit second favourite SERPENTINE (1) the obvious danger.

RACE 6: GROUP 1 CHAMPIONS SPRINT (1200m)

BET: $25 each-way win GIGA KICK (1) at $4.80/$1.90

Loomed to win The Everest and just peaked on the run, as BELLA NIPOTINA (5) held the margin to the post. Giga Kick should be ready to peak fourth up - improved with every start under the belt after more than 12 months off the scene. The multiple Group 1 and The Everest winner has won two of three starts at Flemington previously. Wary of Bella Nipotina, in incredible form and win would not surprise. Respect BELLATRIX STAR (12), the three-year-old filly won three on the trot and charged late to run second in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes. Definite place chance.

RACE 7: GROUP 1 CHAMPIONS MILE (1600M)

BET: $25 each-way FANGIRL (10) at $7/$2.40

Didn’t quite ping as expected last start in the King Charles III Stakes but clearly pulled up with a clean bill of health or she wouldn’t be here. Form prior more than good enough to contend on Saturday. Fangirl placed fourth in the race last year. Relatively fresh compared to main rivals also, which could be a factor late. Fangirl has won two of five starts and been runner-up when fourth-up previously. STEFI MAGNETICA (12) no luck at all last Saturday in the Golden Eagle, chopped out badly over the concluding stages. Must be considered along with MR BRIGHTSIDE (1).

RACE 8: GROUP 1 CHAMPIONS STAKES (2000m)

BET: $10/$40 each-way DOCKLANDS (7) at $18/3.40

Solid effort without ever seriously threatening in the Cox Plate last start, was not alone as VIA SISTINA (10) roared to an eight-length victory in track record time. Via Sistina need only hold that form to win the Champions Stakes on Saturday but Docklands should be much better suited at Flemington and certainly worth decent place bet. Docklands has improved out of the Cox Plate, unlike many of his rivals who were already at their top a fortnight ago. Small win bet just in case, more the place.

QUADZILLA

LEG 1, RACE 6
GIGA KICK (1) to turn the tables on BELLA NIPOTINA (5) would not surprise, powered late in The Everest and just peaked. That said, Bella Nipotina could not have been more impressive last Saturday with a most dominant win in Sydney. Bella has yet to win in 10 starts at Flemington but her form the past six months in Brisbane and Sydney exceptional. Include OVERPASS (2) and BELLATRIX STAR (12).
1ST LEG 1, 2, 5, 12

LEG 2, RACE 7
FANGIRL (10) should be hard to beat. Happy to forgive last start, didn’t sprint as sharply on rain-affected ground. Back on a fast surface and racing on fresher legs compared to key rivals. MR BRIGHTSIDE (1) has been racing in great heart and not quite got the full rewards. BROADSIDING (13) must be included off the light weight. Stuck to task boldly last start in the Cox Plate. Back to 1600m ideal and Flemington perfect. Include STEFI MAGNETICA (12).
2ND LEG 1, 10, 12, 13

LEG 3, RACE 8
VIA SISTINA (10) the standout. How could you not after her track record eight-length Cox Plate romp? Drawn perfectly and won the Cox Plate in a canter. Via Sistina defeated Buckaroo two starts back at Flemington in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes. ATISHU (11) is a deserved second favourite - won the race last year and arguably going better again. Atishu showed good fight last Saturday to win the Group 1 Empire Rose.
3RD LEG 10, 11

LEG 4, RACE 9
PISANELLO (1) won impressively first up in Sydney in slightly lower grade. Barrier one a tricky spot to start from but the Godolphin gelding has upside – won three of nine starts and runner-up twice. KEENAN (5) has placed first up previously. MANTUA (10) has been a model of consistency – first or second the past six starts. Include DUAL PRESSURE (11).
