JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
James McDonald will be favourite in the TAB Jockey Challenge but Tommy Berry can make things interesting.
RACE 1: 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1100m)
AMELITA (7) faded after leading at Rosehill on debut then sat back and wide when fifth behind Clean Energy at Warwick Farm before a spell. Has cruised to the line in winning both trials. JELLICIOUS (10) had trialled well prior to her debut at Warwick Farm in May when second to Clean Energy after racing three-wide with Lady Shenandoah third. She’s again trialled well ahead of her return. ETON (1) is the first foal of Group 1 winner English by I Am Invincible. Handy second to Amelita in his Randwick heat.
BET: Amelita to win.
RACE 2: 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1250m)
MERGEILA (6) was steady in the market on debut and boxed on for a handy third behind Mayfair and Mawjood at Rosehill on July. Back from a let-up and had plenty left to offer when third to Zoubaby in her Rosehill trial on Sept 5. CASHBURN (7) is a debutant by Capitalist. Has closed strongly from back in the field for second at her last two Rosehill trials. Drawn t get a nice run and expect her to figure prominently. CANARA (2) is the most experienced horse in the field with seven starts and is stakes placed. Nice trial at Rosehill recently.
BET: Mergeila to win.
RACE 3: COLTS, HORSES AND GELDINGS BENCHMARK 72 (1250m)
NEED SOME LUCK (3) resumes as a gelding. Won his only start here second-up last campaign after his only unplaced run when resuming at the Scone stand-alone meeting. Given a good hit-out in his Randwick trial win. GUNDY GUY (5) had to work early when sixth to Sir Freddie first-up in a Highway at Randwick on Aug 10. Bounced back with a win from Gold Tracker over 1200m at Wagga. At his peak now. LOVE SHUCK (2) has won two of his last four and was fourth to Cosmonova at Rosehill and fourth to Yorkshire at Warwick Farm in the other two.
BET: Need Some Luck to win.
RACE 4: BENCHMARK 72 (1900m)
I AM THE EMPIRE (5) hit the front and looked home before being caught late by Futtaim over 2200m at Warwick Farm. Dropped back to 2000m when third to Matusalem at Rosehill on Aug 31. Back in grade will be in the finish again. UNLIMITED (2) was held up passing the 200m before closing late for third to West Of Africa at Randwick on Aug 10. He had cardiac arrhythmia when last behind Medatsu at Randwick two weeks later. He can bounce back from that. LINE OF FIRE (3) is coming off an al-the-way win under 61kg at Wyong.
BET: I Am The Empire each-way.
RACE 5: BENCHMARK 72 (1580m)
Sweysive raced keenly early before finishing fifth to Flying Destiny second-up here on Aug 7 before returning three weeks later with a length second to High Dandy over 1550m. Ready to peak now and is a fourth-up winner previously. JUST GLAMOUROUS (9) led all the way to win her maiden first-up at Newcastle then stepped up to a Bm72 for fillies and mares when she chased the tearaway leader before being caught at the 100m when a head second to Watch My Girl in record time over 1300m at Warwick Farm. SEAFALL (8) will be better fir her first-up sixth to Countyourblessings here on Aug 28.
BET: Sweysive to win.
RACE 6: BENCHMARK 72 (1100m)
BOSTON ROCKS (4) will appreciate a drop back in grade having raced in Saturday company in all four starts this campaign. Was just over two lengths behind Our Kobison when fourth over 1000m at Randwick on Aug 10 before a third to Briasa over 1100m at Rosehill. Drawn ideally and gets his chance. FIRE STAR (8) raced with cover and was just beaten by Reigning King at Wyong two starts back the caught behind the tiring Custo on the Kensington last week when fifth to Tanglewood. EYE PEA OH (9) has chased home Bonita Queen when second and third at her last two starts. Won’t be far away again.
BET: Boston Rocks to win.
RACE 7: FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 72 (1250m)
SEASCAPE (6) did it tough out three-wide without cover when third behind Weeping Woman and After Match when resuming over 1100m at Hawkesbury. Got a little keen behind the leader before pushing off the fence and holding out Maori Chief over 1200m here last start. COUNTYOURBLESSINGS (1) kicked off her campaign with a nice win over Alvina’s Luck in the same race conditions here two weeks ago. Gets in well with the claim. ALVINA’S LUCK (7) is very consistent and only missed a place once in her last eight starts when fourth to Equipage two runs back.
BET: Seascape to win,
