INSIDE MAIL - SCONE
RACE 5: Yarraman Park Hcp (C1) 1300m
Bush Telegraph has raced three times, all of them were for the Attard’s, and started off winning a Maiden at Hawkesbury. Fast forward to the present and the daughter of Press Statement has trialled three times (all of them very good) for new trainer Scott Singleton. The Brett Cavanough-trained Under The Louvre son, Paris Lad, has finished on the podium in all three starts and in not bad company either. Stablemate Eclair is ‘21’ this prep so on the rise seemingly.
Bet: Bush Telegraph to win
RACE 6: Richard Crookes Constructions Super Mdn Hcp 1100m
Deel Me A Queen is a Dundeel filly out of an Animal Kingdom mare which more or less means she is bred to win an Oaks. This is 1100m but she is on debut, at home and she trialled like an Oakleigh Plater. Trapeze Legend (in the same colours as his champion sire, Trapeze Artist) ran very well against a good local here on debut. If he’s improved any, and he won’t have to have by all that much, he could make the Dundeel filly work for the win. Russley Tiara is a player.
Bet: Deel Me A Queen to win
RACE 7: Arrowfield (Bm66) 1400m
Sonic Tycoon was way overs at $71 (IMHO) in that September 7 TAB Highway at Randwick. He ran eighth but he should have finished higher up the order than that. It was a very encouraging run in fact. This is his home track, just the Heavy is the great unknown. Same goes for a few other here including Supertrail which will get out to 2400m again this prep but is likely to ‘sprint’ well fresh over 1400m. Florino gets box 3 and Bullock which will help him see out 1400m.
Bet: Sonic Tycoon to win
RACE 8: Phoenix Cafe (Bm58) 900m
Sardonyx will be ridden by Clayton Gallagher and we can’t let his name slip by without mentioning that he has ridden seven winners from his last nine rides. Five of them were at the six race card at Enngonia last Saturday. He’s on a fast and untapped horse in the last. Pee Dee is pretty nippy himself. He’s won seven races which is no mean feat, three of them are here at Scone and two of them were on Heavy tracks. Willingale races well at Scone and bumped into Snow In May at Newcastle last start.
Bet: Sardonyx to win, quinella 8, 10, exacta 8 to beat 10

RACE 5: Bennett Contructions Showcase Hcp (C1) 1210m
Immortality had excuses for that ‘0’ at Doomben last start. It wasn’t a bad run by any measure. Go back one run, four weeks prior, and the Stephen Lee-trained son of I Am Invincible was runner-up here at Lismore; his only run there prior to this one. Lunar Eight is a chance to be saved for Eagle Farm on Saturday just given the wide alley here but she’s flying. Former Victorian housed Dupont has been trialling exceedingly well for his new trainer Marcus Wilson. ‘Stays’ but could run a big one fresh.
Bet: Immortality to win
RACE 6: Global Lubricants Untamed Showcase Sprint 1210m
Memoria is a big chance to be saved for Toowoomba on Saturday evening. She has drawn well there, nine here before scratchings. Long story short, all four of her runs this preparation have been good to very good, all in better races than this one. Lady Wardell is a bonny mare’ 21 starts for five wins and seven placings, often in some really good company. Gee she was dominant winning at Murwillumbah last start with Mollie Fitzgerald on.
Bet: Memoria to win or if scratched Lady Wardell to win
Sizzling Gal lives up to her name with a big win at Doomben! @RaceQLDpic.twitter.com/Uf7PuRK0gn
â SKY Racing (@SkyRacingAU) August 17, 2024
RACE 7: Rodney Lees Cabinetmaking *Big Dance Eligibility * Lismore Cup 1526m
Sizzling Gal has won six races from 1100m to 1600m and I suppose given the forecast, the most pertinent stat that she owns is that she is two from three on Heavy tracks. She is also in red-hot form and seems well enough weighted. Is this a case of ‘the best Point Counterpoint just wins’? Could be. The question then is, can he produce his best on the day? Time will tell. Flashing Steel has a wide draw but a good racing style.
Bet: Sizzling Gal and Point Counterpoint each-way, quinella 2, 6
RACE 8: Pak Vending Country Boosted (Bm58) 1310m
Desert Mist has got the run at Eagle Farm on Saturday if Matthew Dunn wants to go there. The thing to remember with him is that he is first-up and while it appears he doesn’t like it wet or race well first-up for that matter, he has been trialling well. Maybe they chase the better going in Brisbane? That being the case, it is over to his stablemate Guru Class who is racing in grand style at present but he’s also accepted for Eagle Farm. Donna Grisedale’s Super Jaie is on a hat-trick.
Bet: Desert Mist to win or if scratched Guru Class to win or if scratched Super Jaie to win
