BEST BET
Race 7 No.3: DEMOCRACY MANIFEST
He’s won here and didn’t have a long spell so should be fit enough to win fresh and the barrier trial should give punters plenty of confidence. It sets up well for him.
NEXT BEST
Race 4 No.9: AMATI
She wasn’t given a hard time in her barrier trial and is already a city winner. The race she ran second in last prep was behind Owen County which went on to a Group 1 soon after.
VALUE BET
Race 2 No.8: ENUENDO
I think she can sit in behind the speed and show a really good turn of foot here at a decent enough price.
QUADDIE
Race 4: 2, 9, 12
Race 5: 2, 4, 5, 8
Race 6: 2, 4, 10, 15
Race 7: 3
TRAINER TO WATCH
Chris Waller might look like an easy choice but could really clean up here today and I think he can win five of the seven races which would be great even by his standards.
JOCKEY TO WATCH
Kerrin McEvoy should fancy his chances on value horses Enuendo and Legend Has It in the second and third races.
INSIDE MAIL
RACE 1
Rediener looked the winner here two weeks ago on debut but was beaten by the tough Scientist which had already had a run under its belt. Expect improvement from a good draw under Hugh Bowman. Stablemate Zakiyya got beat by a very promising type on debut but was hitting the line stronger than anything and a little more ground now won’t hurt as the leading jockey is on. Going off the barrier trial, could Stylised sit back and come off their backs and out sprint his rivals? The claim gets him in well and the apprentice rode him in his latest trial. Might be worth the chance at nice odds.
Bet: Stylised to win
RACE 2
Could it be a race-to-race double for Godolphin here? Pereille looked the part in a barrier trial at Hawkesbury under James McDonald who rides the colt out of a good barrier here. On The Beach has drawn wide but has a heap of gate speed to overcome it and probably lead them here. It’s her first start so it’s hard to know if she’ll kick and go on with it so watch the betting. Enuendo looked the part in a barrier trial and from the gate should sit in behind the speed and might just have the turn of foot to go close here. McDonald trialled here on both occasions but is on Pereille. Great Barrier Reef was beaten last start but the form out of that race should stack up. Matt Dunn says he’s expecting debutant Tribeca Star to win here.
Bet: Enuedo to win
RACE 3
Father’s Day got the win last start at Hawkesbury but did get all the favours in the run. The horse is well placed here though and isn’t facing too much. Just A Jedi is also very well placed in this grade off three great runs without winning this time in and he has won over 2100m in the past and must be at his best considering where he’s at in his preparation. Legend Has It kept coming to the line over 2100m at Wyong last start and should enjoy getting back onto a bigger track here and is another horse that should present as good value.
Bet: Quinella 2, 3
RACE 4
Cinderella Days should be able to sit up on the speed and lead them here over a little more ground. She’s won her first two starts and did it with a bit in hand on the line so she should be tough to beat here. Amati won on debut at Canterbury then ran second to Owen Country at Randwick and that’s good form and she wasn’t given a hard time of it at her lead up barrier trial. Lady Banff will just win one soon at odds and she’s placed here to do it. Stalking wants more ground but has run two seconds fresh.
Bet: Amati to win
RACE 5
Willinga Rufio is fresh over a mile but had two good trials and this trip fresh is a good thing for the son of Dundeel. Should be fighting out the finish. Kokoro has the fitness edge fourth-up after bolting in last time at Wyong and the horse is a genuine city type so we should be expecting a good run here with the leading hoop on. So Sneeky tends to run well at his home track and this isn’t the strongest race for him as a fit horse in an underrated stable.
Bet: Kokoro to win
RACE 6
I thought Pretty Amazing was a knockout chance at odds at Rosehill last weekend before it was scratched so I must be backing her here despite the gate. She could flash home from off the speed and gobble them up at a decent enough price. Conrad will prove difficult to beat at this stage of his preparation at this level. Well placed by Kim Waugh. Stick To Your Guns won with a bit in hand on the line at Kembla under a new trainer last time and tends to hold its form second-up while Avoidance shoots for three-straight wins and will probably be leading them into the straight.
Bet: Pretty Amazing to win
RACE 7
Democracy Manifest was given a typical Chris Waller trial and looked the part late. With a top fresh record the stable would be disappointed if he didn’t go close here under Hugh Bowman who should give him the run of the race from barrier three. Stablemate Narito may pose the biggest threat after two good wins at the provincials to kick off his career and he’ll be stalking the speed here. Watch the betting with Shalailed who is first-up here and likes to get his toe into the track. The stable is so good at placing them and he ran second as a two-year-old in May at Caulfield. Good gate and should return well.
Bet: Democracy Manifest to win
