Another Wil won impressively first-up from back in the field after drawing an outside barrier. The five-year-old gelding should settle close to the lead from barrier one here. He is unbeaten second-up and at the track, and has two wins and a second from three starts over the 1400m.

The Ciaron Maher import “had a trial” in his Australian debut after going to the line under a hold when eighth of 10 in the Heatherlie Handicap at Caulfield. The step up to 2000m suits – he won over 2234m and 2916m overseas last year – and he’ll get a soft run from barrier two.
