Kembla Grange trainer Mitchell Beer needs to get Mnementh’s next assignment right.
Thousands of dollars will be riding on it.
Mnementh consistently produces strong performances at his second run of each campaign, winning four and going down narrowly in two other second-up runs.
Beer has chosen the Saturday’s Listed Straight Six at Flemington and the Listed Luskin Star Stakes at Scone.
The Flemington race will be over Mnementh’s favourite 1200m distance while the Scone contest will be over 1300m.
However, Mnementh will encounter his favoured softer ground at Scone while the NSW race was worth $25,000 more than the Straight Six.
Beer said he would take as much time as possible to decide where Mnementh runs on Saturday.
“We’ll accept with him in both and then we’ll have a look at where it all stacks up,” Beer said. “I think he’s won four and just missed twice from seven runs second-up so it’s pretty important we get the next run right.”

Beer said Mnementh showed he has returned in good order with his first-up fourth at Hawkesbury on May 4.
“He drew 11 in an unsuitable race on a firm track over 1100(m) and we had to drag him back and ride him quiet,” Beer said.
“I was rapt with his run.”

Irrespective of whether Beer decided to head to Scone on Saturday, the trainer said Melbourne punters would see Mnementh down south during the winter.
Mnementh won the Listed All Victorian Sprint Series Final down the Flemington straight last July, impressing top jockey Blake Shinn with his performance.
“He will be running at Flemington over winter for sure, whether it’s this time or next,” Beer said.
“Blake Shinn was so upbeat about him the last time he went down the straight.
“We’re really keen to get him back down the straight over winter and there’s just terrific options at this time of the year.”
Beer has booked jockey Teo Nugent, who won on Mnementh at Ballarat in 2022, to ride the seven-year-old if he runs at Flemington.
