Tony Gollan notches fourth Magic Millions Snippets win with Zarastro
Tony Gollan has landed his fourth win in the $1m Magic Millions Snippets with Zarastro proving far too good for his rivals.

Angela Jones took luck out of the equation to steer gifted sprinter Zarastro to victory in the Magic Millions Snippets (1200m) on Friday night.
There were winners and losers from the Magic Millions meeting being pushed back a week but Zarastro was certainly one of the winners, the six-year-old taking full advantage of the improved track conditions to dash away with the $1m event.

Trained by Tony Gollan, now a four-time winner of the race, Zarastro was not for catching, scoring by 2¼ lengths over The Novelist in a brilliant display of sustained speed.
“We’ve had a good bit of luck in this race and thank god it keeps going,” Gollan, who won with Temple of Boom (2011), Jonker (2021) and Isotope (2022) previously, said.
“He’s been a fantastic horse since he joined the stable. I had a real sense that he was starting to peak in this preparation.
“It was a flat run second-up on the turnaround which I didn’t really want to do but tonight he got a track that was favourable and he’s obviously a high quality sprinter.
“I was never worried that they were going to run him down. As the week built up, he wouldn’t have been here last Saturday - he can’t handle the wet but as the tracks dry up, the improvement in this horse during the week had us full of confidence.
“We came here last year for the Cup and it was a longer prep. I picked this race out a year ago and we’ve filled the gaps in between. The owners bought him online for bugger all and they’re great supporters of the stable.”
Angela Jones, a rising star of the jockey ranks, was full of praise for the nine-time winning son of I Am Invincible.
“It is so great to be having luck here and to do it on this horse is so great,” Jones said.
“He quickened up in the straight and I was so confident. I wasn’t that confident in the run as he normally tugs a little bit more when he’s on but when we straightened up I felt how much he had left and I was so confident.”
