Giga’s Kick’s little brother was beaten but not disgraced on debut at Bendigo on Wednesday.
Giga Kick won his first five starts, including The Everest, in 2022 but his three-quarter brother Pantoja had to settle for third in a two-year-old maiden over 1100m.
The Clayton Douglas-trained Pantoja covered ground but faded late to finish 2½ lengths from the winner Grinzinger Pod, who narrowly defeated Markdel.
Grinzinger Pod ($15) was slow away but the Ben Brisbourne-trained filly finished well under jockey Lachlan King.

“It didn’t go quite to plan,” Brisbourne said.
“She was slow away and had to come wide. She got headed, I thought, in the last 100m and managed to fight back.
“She’s a filly with a bit of quality and she showed that in a number of ways today.”
