BEST BET
Race 5 No. 2: Sorry Sunshine
Went out a winner at this venue over a mile but finds a sweets-spot first-up at 1300m perhaps.
NEXT BEST
Race 1 No. 11: Star Chic
Typical Star Turn filly; racy type who trialled rather well and gets Molly Bourke here.
VALUE
Race 4 No. 16: Lost Ya Sock
Had excuses on debut back in February. Has more talent than that. Molly Bourke again.

BEST BET
Race 7 No. 2: Sanzeno
Looking at a rolled-gold Country Championship horse in 2024.
NEXT BEST
Race 1 No. 11: Red Rags To Bulls
Runner-up at her only two starts to date in better races than this one.
VALUE
Race 2 No. 9: Tayla The Sailor
Placed at five of her ten starts, she gets her opportunity again to break through here.
INSIDE MAIL: WAGGA
RACE 5
Sorry Sunshine went out on a Wagga mile back on February 25; his other win was at 1400m, also here at home. Monday’s mission is 1300m but with the track being so wet, it will feel something more like 1400m. With all that, it just comes down to fitness and not talent. Big Impact is the top-rater in a race that has quite a long tail. Third-up now, she just has to run the trip and from a wide gate and with a big weight.
Bet: Sorry Sunshine to win
RACE 6
Mystic Flame has only managed to win four of her 51 starts but she has placed 17 times, 10 of those are seconds. Perhaps of most significance so far as Monday is concerned, Mystic Flame has two seconds and two thirds from five starts on Heavy tracks. Speaking of wet track form, Vaaroom is unbeaten in his two starts on Heavy. Has won second-up. The ‘best’ Super Riff would be right in the finish. He wasn’t as bad as it reads that last 13th of 14 at Moruya.
Bet: Mystic Flame each-way, Super Riff to place
RACE 7
Hold has quite a neat little C.V at present, namely 10 starts, two wins, two seconds and a third. One of his wins at Canberra was quite astounding, to do what he did from where he was at the top of the straight. For the record, he ran second to Miss Jennifer at the subsequent run. Soo Kiss Me is a handy filly from the Donna Scott who was doing her best work late in what was a very good quality Class 1 at Corowa despite the blow-out result. Scoff like the slop.
Bet: Hold to win
RACE 8
Toretto, by any measure, is the most accomplished horse in the race; he ran third in the SERA Country Championship Heat, third in the Moriya Cup and fourth in a Parkes Cup. The Matthew Dale trained gelding has won twice here and while not an out-and-out muddie, he seems to get through it. Trooper Knuckle should have finished a lot closer and a lot higher up the order at Moruya. Has won on a Heavy 10 and the step to 1400m is bang on for him now. Loose Love has won three from four on Heavy.
Bet: Torretto to win, Trooper Knuckle each-way, quinella 3,7
INSIDE MAIL: GUNNEDAH
RACE 4
Weave That Web is a very fit and very in-form mare from the Garry Lunn stable. The daughter of Pierro has is ‘224113’ leading into this and most of the runs are circa 2000m. She carries weight like a champ and the draw is favourable to say the least. Bill Peyto has ‘only’ won five from 63 but he has placed 19 times. Couple of things to note; he is a last start winner albeit at Wean Picnics but this is the sort of race that he is sometimes competitive in.
Bet: Weave That Web to win
RACE 5
Harbour Gold hasn’t run a bad race in all seven starts; in fact, they have all been worthy to varying degrees. He’s not a good thing of course but he might be better than these. Craig Clegg’s Testa Rossa mare Briefly has quite an appealing first-up record, is well drawn and has Mikayla Weir on board. Lavish Lady was close over the line to Harbour Gold in that race at Moree that they both contested.
Bet: Harbour Gold win, exacta 4,7, trifecta 4 (standout) 3,7,8 (boxed), DD 1st Leg (4), 2nd Leg (2)
RACE 6
Lago’s Daughter has a good set of numbers; three starts at Gunnedah for a win, a second and a third. As well as that, she has a win and a second at the track/trip. Granted, she has only won three out of 36 but she has 12 placings and has run fifth in a Highway at Randwick. Time Ruler is ‘1322’ in his four starts this time in and was only beaten a neck in the last two. The ‘best’ Bear’s Best would be good enough to just about win even with the gate.
Bet: Lago’s Daughter to win, Bear’s Best each-way
RACE 7
Sanzeno has all the hall-marks on a Country Championships horse in 2024. The Mack Griffith trained former Victorian had excuses for his $1.28 fav second at his NSW debut then stepped out at Mudgee, at $1.28 again, and bolted in. Drawn 2. Up The Country was huge at Scone against a wicked leader-bias at her first run for Holly Williams. Backed it up with a brave on-pace second of 14 at Tamworth in a deep Class 1. Moon Zone and Albertado have claims.
Bet: Sanzeno to win, exacta 2 to beat 4
