FIVE TO FOLLOW

ZOUCLAIRE (2nd, Race 5)

Smart winner Invincible Woman was in a different postcode to the runner-up but Zouclaire finished nicely once balanced up in the straight. WISE INLAW (unplaced) raced in restricted room along the rail and should benefit from the race experience.

FREAK OF NATURE (4th, Race 6)

Deep in campaign no improvement to come as such but loved the way he responded to being jammed between horses and shunted back at the 250m. Rebuilt the revs again and finished sharply to run fourth.

HELIX (3rd, Race 10)

Big lump of a horse and only second-up last Saturday against hard fit pair INHIBITIONS and ZOU SENSATION. Helix matched motors with Inhibitions in the straight but peaked on the run.

INDIAN JEWEL (5th, Race 3)

Cut the corner and loomed into contention but no runs emerged for the last start Caulfield Heath winner. Jockey Damian Lane tried to get around two sets of heels at the 200m but eventual winner DRAGOON quickened faster and shut the gate.

STEAL THE SUN (unplaced, Race 4)

Slow into stride and settled last, not bustled along, in a nice rhythm. Rising star apprentice jockey Jaylah Kennedy navigated a path to the middle of the track, cut the corner and then drifted out into clear air with momentum, and finished off strongly. Steal The Sun recorded the fastest last 400m and 200m sectionals on the card.

FORGIVE

MAKENA (unplaced, Race 4)

Travelled comfortably behind the speed but disappointed for a run at a crucial stage, pocketed as jockey Todd Pannell held his position on SPIRIT OF CAMELOT (4th).

BACASH (3rd, Race 5)

Not sharp enough to go with the winner INVINCIBLE WOMAN but stuck to the task and potentially suited over further in time.

ZOU SENSATION (2nd, Race 10)

Caught back in the field and forced to check off the eventual winner’s heels at the 250m. Lacked momentum as a result and did exceptionally well to get as close as he did.
