ROSEHILL
Track: Heavy Soft 6. Rail: True
Race 1
Overview: A tough way to start the day with some fancies like Salire, King Gutho and Sir Ravanelli drawn out which is a big no-no from the Rosehill 1200m start. King Gutho had no luck last time and if Tommy Berry can slot in somewhere with cover before the first turn he’s got the horse under him to sprint better than most of these. Ezekeil and Sungblue have drawn well. Flying Sultan might be the one at odds to look at with a good gate and leading hoop on. He failed in a Saturday race to end his last prep but was showing plenty before that.
Betting Advice:Flying Sultan each-way
Race 2
Overview: Jal Lei has a habit of drawing wide and it’s happened again and that has always forced her to go back. She should have a big finish but is this the right track for her from a wide draw? Her best might ensure she snatches it late. Plymstock carries 7.5kg less and should get the easy run a pair or two back on the fence as she looks to build on her record. Ten Bells has graduated from Highway grade to become a city winner and she should be better on a firmer track after winning fresh on an absolute bog track. Va Via lost to Audette two weeks ago and that horse has come out and won in town during the week.
Betting Advice:Va Via to win
Race 3
Overview: Waterford is back in grade, has a better gate, is undefeated at the track and distance and Tommy Berry is back on which is key because all his wins have come with him on board. Loch Eagle will be better on a drier track now and don’t forget his scintillating fresh performance two back.
Betting Advice: Waterford to win
Race 4
Overview: Pink Ivory was 1/5 lame last start and didn’t handle the heavy track so she’s a forgive run and two back she ran down Hameron late from off the speed. She will be stalking him again but probably not giving up as much start at the top of the straight this time. Gin Martini is looking for this trip now and comes into this out of two Group races so is well placed. Ting Tong is flying but needs some luck.
Betting Advice:Pink Ivory to win
Race 5
Overview: Monte Ditto has been flying this time in and Hugh Bowman naturally sticks but he’ll need to produce a typical Bowman ride from gate nine. With cover in the run he’s a huge chance to snap them up again. Mars Mission gets in very light with a claim after a luckless run fresh and a better draw only helps. Tim Clark’s booking for Winning Verse is key and he probably sits outside the leader.
Betting Advice:Monte Ditto to win
Race 6
Overview: There’s been support all week for international raider Bois D’argent who should match up to the Aussie horses here at 2000m, even if he’s racing fresh. It’s an awkward draw which is a query with a visiting hoop on. Quality Time didn’t look flash in winning the Port Macquarie Cup after doing things wrong in the run. He’s got the ability to win this but needs to relax better in the run. Hezashocka was really working home well behind Cascadian in the Craven Plate. Honeycreeper should’ve won the Angst Stakes two weeks ago.
Betting Advice:Honeycreeper to win
Race 7
Overview: Considering the way the race panned out, I believe Lost And Running would’ve won The Everest two weeks ago had he not been scratched with a minor issue. Private Eye and Mazu are flying while Masked Crusader gets a more favourable surface but needs to start better. Eduardo won this last year but has drawn out and might be vulnerable late.
Betting Advice:Lost And Running to win
Race 8
Overview: They’re really talking up the international Light Infantry and going by his track gallop earlier in the week at Canterbury, you can see why and he’s got the right gate to show his best. It’s a shame Vilana has drawn so wide but he might be ridden cold and look to come over the top of them late. I Wish I Win has the X-factor to also swoop home and gobble them up late. Gypsy Goddess fresh with the blinkers back on is an interesting prospect.
Betting Advice:Light Infantry to win
Race 9
Overview: Mahagoni has 64kg to lug but there’s not a huge spread in the weights and he’s going better than anything here. The weight is all that beats him. Adios Steve will be on the speed and make sure they’re at their best to get past him. Kayobi hasn’t run worse than second in five runs to date and he goes from 1200m up to 1500m but 1500m at Rosehill isn’t the most testing of trips. Buba has drawn the car park but is good enough to win a race of this standard.
Betting Advice: Kayobi to win
Race 10
Overview: Democracy Manifest finally gets back to a Saturday race and it’s well timed being third-up which is key against horses that are better performed but he’s drawn well and at his best should challenge. Spiranac is also set to race better third-up after a game effort in the Kosciuszko and she has done well in Stakes grade in the past. Arbitration won from well back here four weeks ago at the midweeks but she got all the breaks in the straight to stride through and win. John O’Shea’s pair Cotehele and I Am Lethal are talented enough to win.
Betting Advice:Spiranac each-way
