Busuttin and Young combined with syndicators First Light Racing to secure Lady Brightside for $NZ70,000 at a yearling sale in 2023.
Busuttin said Lady Brightside had shown enough ability in her trackwork and jumpouts to inspire confidence she could break her maiden early in her racing days.
However, he said she would continue to improve as she matured in coming preparations.

“She’s going to win races but she’s still a bit immature,” Busuttin said.
“She’s got a lot of developing to do and the owners have been very patient with her.
“She’s now at a point where she’s ready to go to the races and she can knock off a maiden quick enough but I think she’s going to be much better in another six to 12 months.”
Busuttin said Lady Brightside was likely to have a “shortish” first preparation but added he and Young were confident she would pay her way on the racetrack.
“I think she’ll make the grade but she’ll be a lot better in the future,” he said.
“We’d like to have her for a few seasons and winning races with her.”
