Jason Collett won’t be rushed into choosing his Golden Slipper ride after completing the juvenile feature race double on Within The Law and Rivellino at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Within The Law, trained by Bjorn Baker, came from near last with a withering run to score a last stride win in the Group 2 $300,000 Sweet Embrace Stake (1200m).
Just 35 minutes earlier, Collett rode the Kris Lees-trained Rivellino to win the Group 2 $300,000 Skyline Stakes (1200m).

“We will let the dust settle, I’ll talk it over with my manager, there’s still three weeks to the Golden Slipper,” Collett said.
“I’m known to get these decision wrong so hopefully I can make the right one this time.
“But it’s nice to be in this position. They are both very good two-year-olds and there was merit in both their wins.”
Scott Darby of Darby Racing Syndications which races Within The Law is hopeful Collett chooses to ride his filly but the leading syndicator-owner already has a “Plan B.”
“We’ve got Ben Melham on standby – and he won the Golden Slipper for us on She Will Reign (2017),” Darby said.
Within The Law ($5.50) looked to be in a hopeless position back in the field on the turn but finished powerfully to run down Bellazaine ($3.60 favourite) right on the line and score by a nose with Snitzel Miss ($5) nearly a length away third.
Rivellino did beat Within The Law narrowly when they fought out the finish of the Inglis Millennium at their previous starts and the form out of that race was franked on Saturday.

But a comparison of their race-winning times revealed Within The Law’s 1m 09.51s was considerably faster than Rivellino’s 1m 10.39s, although the colts and geldings division was run at a much slower early tempo.
Rivellino did rip home his final 600m in 33.25s while Within The Law ran 34.02s for the same closing sectional.
Collett was impressed by Within The Law, who firmed from $26 to join Rivellino at $15 for the $5 million Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 22.
“She just keeps lifting the bar,” Collett said. “She had a lot of work to do there and nothing went right from the get-go, really, but she still managed to come out on top.
“We got squeezed pretty heavily coming out of the gate, I had no forward momentum whatsoever, and I was caught wide.
“I sort of got the back of Snitzel Miss and then I was working on the turn. I wanted to get going and get her into it a bit earlier today than last start but then I saw Gai’s runner (Bellazaine) and thought ‘I might have a bit too much work to do here’.
“She was strong late but she probably didn’t get to see the Gai runner until the last bit which was just about too late.”
Within The Law can become the fifth filly to complete the Sweet Embrace-Golden Slipper double after Fireburn (2022), Crystal Lily (2010), Ha Ha (2001) and Dark Eclipse (1980).
