FOUR-PLAY: $200 BETTING STRATEGY

RACE 5 CAULFIELD: BENCHMARK 90 HANDICAP (1000m)

$50 win OAK HILL (4) at $3

The two main chances here are Oak Hill and Fleetwood, but siding with the ex-Michael Moroney sprinter who will have his first start for the Hayes brothers. Oak Hill could be sharper over the 1000m (four wins from seven starts), and is coming off an unlucky second in the Country Discovery. He gets Blake Shinn and should be flying home again.

RACE 6 CAULFIELD: BENCHMARK 100 HANDICAP (2000m)

$50 win IMMEDIACY (3) at $1.80

Immediacy was scratched from Thursday’s Warrnambool Cup where he was the favourite, but staying at the 2000m third-up looks the better option. He was a strong winner at Mornington over the trip last start and will be stalking the speed again from barrier four. His record shows he either wins or finishes out the placings but he was contesting stronger races last prep.

RACE 7 MORPHETTVILLE: GROUP 1 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN DERBY (2500m)

$50 win STATUARIO (2) at $3.10

There is a sense of time with the Emma-Lee and David Browne-trained grey. Statuario outclassed his rivals over 2400m at Caulfield last start after a big run behind rising star Shanwah in the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes. This is only the fifth run of the campaign and he’s ideally drawn in barrier three.

RACE 9 CAULFIELD: BENCHMARK 84 HANDICAP (1400m)

$50 win SUNSHINEINMYPOCKET (10) at $4.80

Sunshineinmypocket has been racing well this prep and can win again with a bit of luck from the wide barrier. He returned to form with a fast-finishing second behind Marble Nine after he didn’t handle the soft track the start before at Flemington.

QUADZILLA

LEG 1 – RACE 6

IMMEDIACY (3) hit the line strongly first-up over 1600m, and was a dominant winner next start at Mornington when stepping up to 2000m. There should still be improvement at his third run. SHAIYHAR (4) was lame in the Group 1 Australian Cup, which came after a win back in January and three consecutive thirds at the trip. AETHELFLAED (9) returned from a long break with a classy win at Canberra but wary she could be a little flat second-up. Her previous start was in the VRC Oaks back in 2023 when second to star mare Zardozi.

1ST LEG: 3, 4, 9

LEG 2 – RACE 7

This leg opens up with the scratching of Global Eclipse, who has snuck into the South Australian Derby field as second emergency. JENNI YOU THINK (8) looks good value after she was outclassed in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes at Morphettville, but she was only beaten by less than three lengths. THE MUFFIN MAN (5) steps up to 2000m for the first time, but has been racing well and has the right form behind Athanatos last start. OXFORD BLUE (3) will improve again up in trip. He finished third in the Geelong Classic over 2200m last spring.

2ND LEG: 3, 5, 8

LEG 2 – RACE 8

PRIDE OF JENNI (1) poses a conundrum here. Do you go one-out with her? She just wins if she’s anywhere near her Group 1-winning best. Take her out of the field and you can make a case for nearly every other runner. Adding in REGAL ZEUS (2), who rarely runs a bad race, HELLSING (5) and SCHEELITE (9).

3RD LEG: 1, 2, 5, 9

LEG 4 – RACE 9

SUNSHINEINMYPOCKET (10) looks ready to win again but needs things to go his way from the wide draw, and should get his preferred dry track. HIYAAM PROUD (14) should be ready first-up after four jumpouts. HUGHES (7) jumps in grade after back-to-back BM70 wins, and he’s won a jumpout since. RED PHANTOM (4) is still going strong deep into his prep and will be leading this for a long way.

4TH LEG: 4, 7, 10, 14

Cost $100 for 69.44%

SKINNY QUADDIE

1ST LEG: 3

2ND LEG: 5, 7, 8

3RD LEG: 1, 2

4TH LEG: 7, 10, 14

Cost $100 for 555.55%
