Punters expect Think About It to continue his amazing winning run in Saturday‘s Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick as a host of TAB Everest hopefuls look to stake one final claim for a berth in the race.

The Joe Pride-trained sprinter, a winner of his past seven starts including twice at group 1 level, has received the weight of support with TAB, slashing him from $2.80 into even money favourite.

Think About It was one of 14 nominations for the Premiere Stakes but unlike several of his rivals, he‘s already been picked up for The Everest by slot-holder Newgate.

Mazu ($11) will also line-up and has secured a slot for Arrowfield & The Star.

The likes of Hawaii Five Oh ($6), Lost And Running ($11), Remarque ($8), Bella Nipotina ($26) and $10m mare Alcohol Free ($8) will look to put their best foot forward also.

Lost And Running’s trainer John O’Shea believes his gelding, which won the race last year, can bounce back after getting caught wide and only beating one runner home in The Shorts.

He overcame a similar scenario en route to the race in 2021.

“Two years ago he ran in The Shorts, got beaten eight and a half lengths and then went on to finish fourth in The Everest,” O‘Shea said.

Among the surprise entries for the Premiere is lightly-raced Victorian sprinter Archo Nacho ($26).

The emerging galloper won the Listed Poseidon Stakes (1100m) at Flemington last start and trainer Matt Laurie is keen for slot holders to consider him.

“I am sure not many people would have heard of Archo Nacho but we rate him highly and it’s probably a way of putting him out there and triggering people of a quality three-year-old,” Laurie said.

“I will work him in reverse on Tuesday morning and make a decision with him after that.”

The Listed Dulcify Stakes has attracted 24 nominations while there were 14 for the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate and 18 for the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes.
