INSIDE MAIL - CANTERBURY
RACE 1: INGLIS XTRA BONUS MDN PLATE 1550m
Banxi is a good horse. He’ll win good races in my opinion anywhere up to and including 2400m; thanks in part to being bred on that amazing Fastnet Rock/Galileo cross - the same as his stablemate, Via Sistina and heaps of others. And we can’t not mention that his dam is a half-sister to Zoustar. Blinkers on, up in trip - tick, tick, boom. Great White Shark has been gelded since his distant second-up third on Oct 2. Been in good races throughout. Jolly Good Fellow has come back in great order. Sleuth looks like he will relish this trip.
Bet: Banxi to win
Superhero to the punter's rescue! ð

RACE 2: THE AGENCY REAL ESTATE MDN PLATE 1250m
Kikoira could (hopefully) strike an instant stake as a potential Magic Millions 3YO Guineas contender. He was a $650,000 yearling, I know Pierata is doing a great job but that’s a lot of money. The dam ran in a Golden Slipper (last) but she’s a half-sister to Amelia’s Dream who should have won a Slipper. Stablemate Inside Man has trialled like a city horse. Nash, box 2 looks good on paper. Hopper ran right up to his market support here on debut.
Bet: Kikoira to win
RACE 3: QUAYCLEAN MDN HCP 1100m
Call Me Sassy was a $340,000 Easter Yearling son of Zoustar and grandson of Mimi Lebrock. Everything he has done in public so far has been but nothing better than his Nov 8 trial win at Warwick Farm. Drawn wide but in good hands. Stablemate Queen’s Rhapsody finished runner-up in town at either side of the spell. Drawn well here again tonight like last time. Regimental Colours is fast.
Bet: Call Me Sassy to win, quinella 3, 6
RACE 4: THE AGENCY PROPERTY MANAGEMENT (BM72) 1100m
Rantan was given a Ron Quinton-esque ride when she was back in the winner’s stall at Hawkesbury last start. Kudos to Zac Lloyd. Jason Collett goes back on and most would agree, he has the best timing in the business and that’s what Rantan needs to win. Bathurst Golden Nugget winner Queen Of The Mile is not badly ‘in’ now with the 3kg off for Zac Wadick. Trialled up very well in front of, then behind, I’mintowin. Got to say, she looks ready. Jamais is a gigantic market watch.
Bet: Rantan to win

RACE 5: SCHWEPPES (BM64) 1250m
Good race this one if they all come. Six of the 12 are last start winners including Riff Rocket’s half-sister Codetta from the Michael Freedman stable. She’s won two from three, both at the provincials but she is at least ‘midweek’ class, probably way better than even. Barrier 5 and 54.5kg - nice. Speaking of talented horses on an upward trajectory, Apex was just fabulous under a great ride by Sam Clipperton first-up. Lounerse has some X-Factor.
Bet: Codetta to win, quinella 5, 8. First 4 Nos. 4, 5, 8, 10, 12
RACE 6: HEADWATER @ VINERY STUD (BM72) 1550m
She’s Unusual is a New Zealand-bred OTI mare with a sterling record of three wins and three seconds from her six starts. Maybe it is just happenstance but it looks like she is a muddie. If you could be sure we were on a Heavy 10 (unlikely), she’d be the lock of the week. Has accepted for Saturday too. Pier Pressure is no longer the best Class 1 horse in the Kris Lees stable after that thorough thrashing she handed her rivals at Scone. Maybe that’ll do the trick with her?
Bet: She’s Unusual to win or if scratched Pier Pressure to win
She's Unusual leads the journey and kicks away for an easy win!@JohnOSheaRacingpic.twitter.com/iZxe5v8Vh9

RACE 7: KIA EVENING STAR (BM78) 1250m
Look beyond their last start together at Rosehill on Oct 12 and Tommy Berry and Stromboli are a good mix. Berry will don the colours he won the Golden Slipper on Stromboli’s big sister Overreach in the Evening Star where the Team Hawkes-trained galloper has been blessed with a favourable alley. Body Bob’s only previous run at this track and distance was a near four length win. He’s flying again. Silentstar is a player. Wish it was dry for Fine Vintage.
Bet: Stromboli to win
Cosmic Lad wasn’t exactly helped by the draw in the Hunter day Midway. Let’s agree to wipe that his C.V and take into account that his first two runs back this time in had that unmistakeable look of ‘building to something’. Has accepted for the Midway on Saturday too. Kirikan was probably the best thing beaten since Canterbury opened last start. Funny thing, maybe this 11 barrier might be better than box one was for him the other day? Time will tell on that. Speaking of horses who are building up nicely, Concello is one of those.
Bet: Cosmic Lad to win or if scratched Kirikan to win
