NARROMINE INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1

Trust A Kitty has an overall record of six placings from 13 starts. The daughter of Trust In A Gust is ‘3323’ in her only four runs for Dubbo trainer Cindy Monaghan and they were all pretty strong quality maidens out this way. Grandini has finished runner-up at two of her four starts, both of them at Scone in better company than this – by far. Taipan Legend likewise comes via some really good Maidens.

Bet: Trust A Kitty to win

RACE 2

Hard To Impress was spelled after his short, sharp first campaign which saw him finish runner-up at both runs, one at Mudgee, the other at Tamworth where he split More Szyslak and So Rosie which is form that has stood the test of time. Stablemate Hutt Street has barely put a foot wrong in his five starts and has drawn well for a change. Brett Robb duo Charlie Mac and the first starter Avonlea have claims.

Bet: Hard To Impress to win or if scratched Hutt Street each-way

RACE 3

Arambys has the unwanted honour of being Lot 1 in the HTBA Yearling Sale in 2023. One wonders if that had anything to do with his making just $2000? Didn’t buyers see that he was by Tassort? Lou Mary did and betcha he is glad he did given the horse has won $7500 in three starts and trialled like he’ll win here. Casino Diva is from an astute stable and she certainly trialled better in that last one would suggest.

Bet: Arambuys to win, Casino Diva each-way, exacta 2 to beat 8

RACE 4

Hit The Rim is lining up for start No.49 of the career on Sunday. He has raced at Narromine twice before, once over this same trip and he finished second. The eight-year-old retains his zest for racing – and desire too it seems – on the score of that fighting win at Warren last start. Obey has run twice as many placings as he has record wins, that’s eight against four, but seven of them are seconds so if she can get that close then why can’t she win one like this? No reason.

Bet: Hit The Rim to win

RACE 5

Taormina Sailor has raced seven times and is yet to finish worse than fifth. Better yet, she is a last-start winner, a first-up winner in fact, which signals that she has perhaps come back in great shape. Couple of things to note. Angela Cooper has ridden her (well) in all seven starts, she’ll need another ripper one here given she drew 17. Geko Coin has a win and a second from 5 starts, he too has never been further back than fifth and you should have seen the win!

Bet: Taormini Sailor each-way, box First 4 Nos. 2,3,4,6,9

RACE 6

Open Pearly Gates’s four career starts are: ‘2214’. Those two seconds were very close calls and so far as the last start fourth goes, maybe he was a bit bogged down with the 60.5kg at home at Scone. Granted he has the same weight again today usually Scone is stronger than other parts of the country. That said, this is an uncommonly strong Benchmark 58 with five last-start winners involved as well as a horse like Bush Telegraph who looks to be peaking.

Bet: Open Pearly Gates to win, Bush Telegraph each-way, DD 1st Leg (3), 2nd Leg (3)

RACE 7

Lockdown Gamble arrived at Randwick on Big Dance day in fantastic shape for the Little Dance only he drew 20 of 20 and they really had no other choice than go forward on him. He faded and finished 15th but we have to be very forgiving. This is a totally different scenario and he might just be that little bit better than most of these. That said, Cody Morgan has got Magic Flyer, well, flying! He was building up to that last start win but still – boom!

Bet: Lockdown Gamble to win, exacta 2 to beat 10

RACE 8

Turgenev’s first-up record is seven starts for zippo and nothing but the strange thing is, he actually doesn’t go too badly fresh. This is a typically strong Benchmark 66 but he rates 67 these days so should feel at home in that department at least. Worth a second glance at the odds. Mack Griffith trained Stratified is no Compelling Truth but he is quick enough and is blessed from above with box one. Jet Empressis holding her (good) form admirably.

Bet: Turgenev each-way, quinella 3,7 box trifecta 1,3,4,7
