It was an action-packed day 2 at the U15s Australian Hockey Championships.

RESULTS AND REPLAYS

Queensland Maroon 2-2 Tasmania, Boys, Pool B

Queensland Maroon, with a win and a loss on day one, took control of the opening game at Bathurst on Saturday from the get-go.

Cooper Mackenzie opened the scoring off a penalty corner in the seventh minute with Matthew Hawthorne following suit in the 26th.

Mackenzie had also scored two goals on day one of the event.

But in the second half Tasmania, with a win in their only match on the opening day, struck back.

Tasmania put first points on the board off a Oliver Stebbings’ penalty stroke in the 49th and then equalised at 2-2 when Angus McMullen fired in a fine field goal in the 52nd.

Victoria Development 2-2 ACT, Boys, Pool B

Both teams were looking for their first win in this day two match but it took until the 25th minute for first points to be recorded.

Victoria Development’s Lachlan Micallef scored from the field to give his side a confidence boost.

Teammate Tom Trenery then found the net in the 27th to give Victoria a handy 2-0 lead going into the break.

The ACT’s Mehar Johal then opened the scoring for his side with a goal from the field in the 45th.

A 60th minute conversion off a penalty corner by Blake Dooley then secured the ACT a 2-2 draw against a side they had trailed from the first half.

Western Australia Gold 3-1 Northern Territory, Girls, Pool B

The leaders of Pool B took on a Northern Territory side keen to score their first win of the 2021 tournament.

But the WA side came out hard to open up a 2-0 lead after just 15 minutes of play at Bathurst.

Seraphina Andrew was successful off a penalty corner in the 10th with Eliza Swain scoring a field goal in the 15th.

Northern Territory struck for the first time in the second half with Amy Stripling scoring off a penalty corner.

Siena Tonkin then extended Western Australia’s lead to 3-1 after scoring off a penalty corner in the 58th.

REPLAY: National U15's Girls Hockey Championships - WA Gold vs NT

South Australia 0-1 Queensland Gold, Boys, Pool A.

Queensland Gold took the initiative early with Jordan Donald scoring a field goal in the 12th minute to put the side up 1-0.

In a low scoring but well contested encounter, the South Australian attack were unable to break through for points either side of the break.

The result saw Queensland notch the first win of the second day of competition at the boys tournament after the two earlier games -

Queensland Maroon v Tasmania and Victoria Development v ACT - both ended in 2-2 draws.

Tasmania 2-2 South Australia

REPLAY: National U15's Girls Hockey Championships - TAS vs SA

Western Australia Gold 2 def NSW Blue 1, Boys, Pool A

Western Australia made their intentions clear from the start with two excellent goals in the first 11 minutes of this match-up.

Charlie McCarthy scored first with Zed Kearnan putting his name on the scoresheet soon after from a penalty corner.

Christopher Goodman broke the ice for NSW with a goal from a penalty corner in the 36th minute.

But there was nothing more the NSW team could do to prevent the West Australian taking the 2-1 victory.

REPLAY: National Under 15's Boys Hockey Championships - WA Gold vs NSW Blue

Tasmania 3 def Western Australia Blue 1, Boys, Pool B

In a top-notch encounter Tasmania bested Western Australia Black 3-1.

Oscar Sproule scored for Tassie in the 10th minute from the field with Oliver Stebbings extending the lead with his own field goal four minutes later.

Toby Blee put points on for Western Australia in the 30th before an on-song Stebbing slotted in his second goal in the 43rd.

U15 girls, Pool B - Queensland Gold v Western Australia

In a tough match at the end of another long day at the championships, the first half of this match between Queensland Gold and Western Australia Gold was a goal-less encounter.

In the 33rd minute the deadlock was finally broken.

Ellie Samsa had the honour of putting first points on the board after firing into the net just after the break.

It was the only goal scored in the match.

U15 boys, NSWS 3 v ACT 0

NSW were the only team to score two wins in the boys nationals on day one.

And they kept their perfect record intact on day two.

It took just three minutes for NSW to go ahead courtesy of a Kalani Franklin field goal.

Joshua Robson then extended the score to 2-0 in the 45th off a penalty corner.

Brayden Sutherland scored the match winner in the 55th for NSW’s impressive 3-0 triumph.
