THREE defensive howlers produced three goals in Australia’s final hit-out on the road to the World Cup, with Daniel Arzani netting a debut international strike in a 2-1 win over Hungary.
Arzani scored in the 74th minute, before Trent Sainsbury’s late own goal appeared to salvage a draw for Hungary.
David Davutovic was in Budapest and has run the rule over how each of the Socceroos performed.

Busy but managed to keep Hungary at bay in his 45-minutes with some solid saves.

Persisted after being tested in the first half as Hungary attacked down the left.

Had too much of the ball for Australia’s liking as the Socceroos went backwards but stood up.
Trent Sainsbury 6
The own goal was unfortunate as he was otherwise composed wearing the captain’s armband.

Toiled at left-back and was involved in a good number of attacking forays.

The chief playmaker played a full game and improved as the game wore on.

Subbed at half-time and Bert van Marwijk said he and Mooy were dropping too deep.

Worked hard against a pesky opponent, overcoming frustration to contribute.
Tom Rogic 6.5
Couldn’t get on the ball in the first half with the Socceroos playing too deep, but helped turn the game in the second.

Cleverly found space to get on the end of Australia’s two best chances in the first half.
