MAT Ryan’s stubborn display against France didn’t just exorcise any bad Brazil memories, it was also another step to becoming one of Europe’s top goalkeepers.
That’s the view of his agent Mikkel Beck, who will be torn in the Samara terraces.
Beck played 19 games for Denmark and manages its captain, star defender Simon Kjaer along with Ryan and fellow Aussie keeper Danny Vukovic.

Beck, who was introduced to Ryan via his ex-Lille teammate and current Socceroos mentor Mile Sterjovski, has negotiated Ryan’s moves to Club Brugge, Valencia and Brighton and said 2018 could be a seminal year for the former Central Coast keeper.
“His performance in the first game was outstanding, he looked like he belonged. It was by far his best World Cup game,’’ Beck said.
“When you see how he plays against France, the biggest names in the world, then you just know this guys is destined for the top. He can go all the way.
“I don’t see many goalkeepers better than Maty. He has everything you need to be a top goalie, even at the highest level in the world.
“When he’s showing it each week in the Premier League, the hardest league for a goalkeeper, his stats show he’s one of the best keepers there.
“He’s just moved up step by step and coming off his best season ever, playing against big teams, big players each week has given him a lot of vital experience that he’s using in the World Cup.”

While Ryan is bound to get offers from bigger clubs, Beck confirmed that he was likely to stay for at least another season after the Seagulls secured survival.
“I see Mat one day at one of the top teams and the top leagues in Europe but it’s very important we take it as it comes, and you don’t go up there too quickly,’’ he said.
“He’s at a very good club, comfortable, growing each day. I think he can stay at Brighton one or two more years before he takes that next step, but I certainly believe the next step could be to one of the big clubs.”
Beck admitted it will be a tough game to watch.
“I’ll be a little bit neutral. Maybe a little bit more Danish. But neutral,’’ Beck said.
