Matildas star Sam Kerr announces baby news with partner Kristie Mewis

Sam Kerr is going to be a mum, with the Matildas superstar and partner Kristie Mewis revealing the exciting news on Instagram.

Matildas star Sam Kerr has ­announced her partner Kristie Mewis is pregnant.

Kerr posted a series of black-and-white photos on social media, one with them holding an ultrasound picture and another revealingMewis’s swollen stomach.

“Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!” the post read.

Her shock news was met with immediate joy and support around the world with Matildas’ teammates Mary Fowler, Tameka Yallop,Tegan Micah and Kyah Simon among the first of many to congratulate the couple.

It shapes as a massive year ahead for Kerr with her first steps into motherhood and her looming return to competition. Interim Matildas coach Tom Sermanni last week confirmed the star striker was planning a January comeback.

“Her rehab is going really well,” Sermanni said after announcing a 36-person Matildas squad for four internationals laterthis month.

“Things are getting a little bit better in rehab, but in reality, it’s still probably a 12-month injury, and Sam’s takingthat time to come back to ensure that hopefully, when she comes back, she’s going to be completely fit and healthy.

“She is potentially looking at January at this stage. It’s a good thing for her to take as much time as possible to makesure that she is fully healed and prepared to come back rather than try to come back a little earlier.”

Kerr, 31, lives in London but is from Perth.

She plays for Chelsea but has been sidelined since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee in January.

Mewis, 33, an American, plays for West Ham.

The pair got engaged in September last year.
