Matildas duo Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter have been nominated for selection in the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World XI

Sam Kerr’s golden year continues, with the Matildas skipper, along with her national teammate Ellie Carpenter, being nominated for selection in the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World XI.

Star Matildas pair Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter have been short-listed for the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World XI for 2021.

FIFPro is the global players’ union, with the team chosen by professional players.

Matildas skipper Kerr is among five Chelsea players in the 23-strong preliminary list.

It continues the 28-year-old striker’s superb year, with Kerr also having been short-listed for the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s Best Women’s Player of the Year awards.

If Kerr does make the final cut when the squad is reduced, it will be her first time in the final XI.

Defender Carpenter, who plays for French club Lyon, is also chasing her maiden final XI berth after making the 2019-20 shortlist.

The final XI, which will be announced on January 17 at the FIFA Best Awards, will be made up of a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, three forwards and an additional outfield player.
