NEW Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana is set to miss the start of the English Premier League after injuring a knee in training during the Reds’ preseason tour of the United States.
Liverpool said the signing from Southampton knocked a lateral collateral ligament during a session at Harvard University in Boston.
Medics have not predicted when Lallana will return, but the club said “injuries of this nature can result in a spell of anywhere up to six weeks on the sidelines.”
Liverpool opens the season on Aug. 17 against Southampton, which has already sold Lallana and striker Rickie Lambert to the Merseyside club.
Defender Dejan Lovren is expected to follow the same path.
