THOUSANDS of fans have turned out in red and white to witness the announcement of the 2015/16 Liverpool FC away kit which - surprise surprise - is white and red.

THOUSANDS of fans have turned out in red and white to witness the announcement of the 2015/16 Liverpool FC away kit which - surprise surprise - is white and red.

The adoring fans chanted away while Liverpool legend Ian Rush was interviewed on stage at King George Square.

Martin Skrtel, James Milner and Simon Mignolet then revealed the club’s away strides for the upcoming English Premier League season.

The fanfare then made its way to Caxton Street, where Queensland Origin coach Mal Meninga and Liverpool players Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and Sheyi Ojo dubbed the famous strip as Anfield Road.

Toure, Sakho and Ojo then posed for photos with Australia Zoo koalas - not that Toure wanted anything to do with them, scattering as soon as he saw the marsupial.

About 8000 fans are expected to turn out for the open training session this evening, with tomorrow night’s clash against the Brisbane Roar a near sellout.

LIVERPOOL FC have kicked off Day Two of their Brisbane tour by hosting a Big Issue soccer clinic at Wakerley Park, Runcorn.

Reds legends Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush taught the handful of lucky Liverpool fanatics a few tricks of the trade ahead of their clash tomorrow night with the Brisbane Roar.

The next stop on the tour will see Simon Minolet, Martin Skertel and James Milner showcase the 2015/16 away kit at King George Square at 5pm before Mal Meninga takes Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and Sheyi Ojo on a tour down Caxton Street.

On Wednesday...

LIVERPOOL has arrived in Brisbane ahead of Friday night’s Suncorp Stadium clash against the Brisbane Roar.

The match is close to a sell out, with about 50,000 expected to watch the new-look Reds in action.

The captain and coach were nowhere to be seen but a handful of Liverpool’s biggest fans were still treated to a meet and greet with some of the club’s modern day legends at Brisbane Airport this afternoon.

About 40 fans mobbed Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush, Didi Hamann and Luis Garcia at Brisbane Airport - the quartet of legends happy to pose for selfies, sign autographs and speak to fans who had travelled from far and wide to get a glimpse of their childhood heroes.

Thomas McCluskie, 16, braved the cold conditions despite feeling under the weather so he could get up close and personal with the Premier League giants.

“I’ve been a Liverpool fan my whole life - my dad’s from Liverpool - I went and saw them two years ago when they were in Melbourne,” Mr McCluskie said.

“It was awesome then and I’m looking forward to the atmosphere more than anything, it should be unbelievable - a bit different to a Roar match,” he said.

One group of fans travelled all the way from Auckland, New Zealand, their plane arriving 30 minutes before the legends emerged from the arrivals terminal.

Most fans swarmed to Fowler, who spoke of his excitement in returning to Australia after a successful trip to Melbourne two years ago.

“I’ll be honest, we were here two years ago now and the excitement that everyone saw when we were playing at the MCG was phenomenal and everyone at the club still talks about it now,” he said.

“If we can replicate half of what we achieved that night it’s going to be a successful trip.”

Fans will get their next chance to see the players at King George Square at 5pm tomorrow - when the team reveal their away kit for the 2015/16 season.

They will then enjoy a tour of Caxton Street by Queensland Origin coach Mal Meninga before their first open training session in Australia at 7pm.

Tickets to the session are $20 for adults and $10 for concession and can be purchased at ticketek.com.au

On Friday, Luis Garcia will meet and greet fans at King George Square at 11am.

One of the most famous and successful English football clubs, Liverpool is in Australia as part of its annual world tour.

The Reds defeated a Thai All Stars team 4-0 in Bangkok overnight, and now make their way to Brisbane.

Liverpool joins a host of big name football clubs playing in Australia this month.

Real Madrid, Manchester City – who have been training on the Gold Coast – and Roma play the International Champions Cup starting in Melbourne this weekend.
