How it finished: Premier League table after the 2017-18 season

FINAL STANDINGs: The relegation of a Premier League side was confirmed after a seven year stay in the top flight, while a top six mainstay fell to an embarrassing final day defeat.

LIVERPOOL sealed a top-four spot while Swansea’s relegation was confirmed on the final day of the Premier League season.

Mo Salah, Dejan Lovren, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson scored for Liverpool as they beat Brighton to secure their place in next season’s Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s men needed a point to be sure but romped to a 4-0 victory at Anfield.

And their caused was helped anyway by closest challengers Chelsea losing 3-0 at Newcastle.

The Reds finished fourth behind Tottenham, who came from behind to beat Leicester in a 5-4 thriller at Wembley.

Another long campaign of 380 matches came to an end on Sunday with the final round of fixtures.

Chelsea and Manchester United will prepare for the FA Cup final next weekend while Liverpool get ready for the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev in a fortnight.

But for most Premier League teams their season ended on Sunday, as did Arsene Wenger’s 22-year reign as Arsenal manager.

Manchester United beat Watford 1-0 but had already secured second place behind champions Manchester City.

Old Trafford said goodbye to Michael Carrick in his final game before retirement.

Pep Guardiola’s men, meanwhile, became the first team ever to reach 100 points with a late winner from Gabriel Jesus at Southampton.

Antonio Conte’s Blues had to settle for fifth place and a place in the Europa League next season alongside Arsenal (6th) and Burnley (7th).

Newcastle secured a top-half finish in 10th place behind Everton in 8th and Leicester in 9th.

At the bottom of the table, Swansea’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed with their home defeat by already-relegated Stoke.

The Welsh side were virtually down at three points behind Southampton and nine goals worse off on goal difference.

Stoke’s win at the Liberty Stadium meant they finished in 19th and consigned West Brom to the bottom spot.

Huddersfield finished in 16th place after their 1-0 defeat by Arsenal in Wenger’s final game as manager.
