Footballer KOs opponent and leaves him sprawled on floor with king hit punch

The football world has been completely stunned by a shocking king hit in a South American match that left a player sprawled on the turf.

This is the mad moment a football match in Uruguay got out of hand over the weekend.

Paysandú Interior faced off against rivals Soriano Capital (Mercedes) in the National Selection Cup.

The Sun reports the home team prevailed in the first leg, beating the current champions 1-0.

But, the game won’t be remembered for Kevin Guinco’s goal halfway through the second half.

With two minutes remaining, tempers flared in the tight contest.

A foul by the visitors’ player Mario Gonzalez, who appeared to kick an opponent, led to a melee involving Enzo Echeveste, who charged towards his opponent.

Echeveste grabbed Gonzalez from behind by his neck as Paysandú Interior players surrounded him.

Unperturbed, Gonzalez swung a right hook towards Echeveste, connecting with his chin.

The punch knocked the player out - leaving him motionless on the pitch as the perpetrator walked off.

Unsurprisingly, Gonzalez was shown a red card for the act of violent conduct.

Football fans couldn’t believe their eyes as footage of the punch went viral on social media.

The MLS Moves account posted on X: “Yoooo wtf lol….”

Uruguay Football ENG posted: “Here is the knockout punch that occurred in Uruguay’s interior during a match between Soriano Capital vs. Paysandú.”

One fan wrote on social media: “So funny everyone’s first reaction is to complain to the ref instead of confronting the player.”

A second joked: “Damn, that guy is totally clueless. He entered the field to fight MMA.”

Another said: “I’m usually an admirer of South American football and all its craziness, including the brawls. Now, this madman should be banned from playing football and face criminal charges.

“A punch like that, on an unprepared guy, could have literally killed the guy.”

Last month, a similar incident happened in the UK when a frustrated coach hit out at a linesman.

Robert Williams-Jones was managing Amlwch Town FC when he grew frustrated at his team’s 8-0 scoreline in the North Wales Coast West Divisions One.

Just 15 minutes into the match, the 43-year-old was filmed landing a blow on the linesman - leaving him sprawled on the ground.

Footage then showed spectators and staff rushing over to the dugout to help the official, whose age hasn’t been released.

Williams-Jones pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm but avoided a prison term.

The thug was instead handed a 24 week sentence suspended for 12 months at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court.
