LIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers praised the quality of Adelaide United, claiming the A-League outfit was a perfect sparring partner at Adelaide Oval Monday night as his side won 2-0.
“The objectives tonight we achieved,’’ Rodgers said.
“Firstly to develop our fitness I thought our pressing, the intensity in the game was excellent and obviously still improving and looking to develop that with a host of new players.
“I thought our performance was very good and against another very well organised team that play excellent football and play with a good notion of the game.
“But I thought our set up was good and the players played very well.”
Rodgers refused to name any Adelaide players that could possibly step up to play in the English Premier League or the championship.
But he was impressed by the way the home side was coached by Josep Gombau and the way Adelaide knocked the ball all over the park which made Liverpool work very hard during its third match in its pre-season.
