Cricket fans will be able to enjoy the Boxing Day Test in unrivalled style with the launch of a luxury viewing enclosure at the MCG.

The Boundary Social, a tiered, ticketed enclave at the base of the Great Southern Stand next to the old Bay 13, is set to revolutionise the Test match experience for younger fans.

The bold rethinking of a day at the cricket will provide guests with a relaxed environment to meet and mingle with friends while watching Australia take on New Zealand.

Amy Finch, wife of Australian cricketer Aaron Finch, said she was blown away by the fresh new concept for cricket fans.

“It is the perfect place for fans to sit and watch the Boxing Day Test,” Ms Finch said.

“I was in an equivalent space for one of the one-day matches (last year) and it is the best place to watch the game.

“I am always a bit nervous watching my husband play so being in a more social space where you can sit with your friends and enjoy a drink and not be glued to the game for the whole time, provided a bit of a distraction, which was lovely.”

Cricket Australia executive general manager of fan engagement Anthony Everard said The Boundary Social would be rolled out at the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, the Brisbane T20 International against Sri Lanka, the Brisbane Test at the Gabba and the Sydney Test at the SCG.

“Creating an atmosphere for fans to watch the cricket in new and innovative ways has been our goal for many years now, and The Boundary Social takes this experience to a new level with bay takeovers at some of the best stadiums in the world,” he said.

“It’ll offer the same brilliant views as we’ve had in previous years, but the sheer size and atmosphere of The Boundary Social … makes it the perfect spot to spend time with friends and, best of all, the perfect places to watch international cricket.”
