CHRIS Lynn’s blistering start to the domestic summer has earned him a national call-up for the Twenty20 series against Pakistan later this month.
The Queenslander, who has had limited Australian opportunities because of shoulder issues, has blasted two centuries in the JLT Cup one-day competition.
He’ll be joined in the squad by Tasmanian opener Ben McDermott, who has also slugged two hundreds in the JLT Cup, with Glenn Maxwell, overlooked for the Test squad, also included.
Fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile is back while Adam Zampa has won the battle of the leg-spinners despite a late push for veteran Fawad Ahmed, included in the 14-man squad which will be captained by Aaron Finch for the three-game series in the United Arab Emirates.
Coach, Justin Langer, said Lynn had returned to his powerful best and earned his recall.
“Chris Lynn has responded well from his shoulder injury and was professional during his rehabilitation,” Langer said.
“He’s had an outstanding campaign in the JLT Cup to date and reminded us how explosive and powerful a cricketer he can be.
“Adam Zampa’s form with the white ball here in Australia and in the overseas T20 competitions over the past twelve months have been impressive, and he’s proven he can stand up and deliver on the international stage.”

“Ben McDermott is another young player who has been rewarded for taking his game to the next level. He’s put in the hard work to improve his strength and fitness, and there’s no doubt it’s been a key factor behind his impressive form in the JLT Cup. He’s performed well in the BBL, and he’s an outstanding young bloke.”
In seven changes to the squad that toured Zimbabwe, Nathan Lyon also returns to the T20 format.
