Big Bash superstar Chris Lynn has promised to “bring the excitement and fans alive” when he takes over the Brisbane Heat captaincy this summer and he can’t wait to kick-off the new season against reigning champions the Strikers this week.

Big Bash superstar Chris Lynn has promised to “bring the excitement and fans alive” when he takes over the Brisbane Heat captaincy this summer.
Lynn will step into the captaincy hot seat when the Heat begin their BBL08 campaign against reigning champions Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba on Wednesday night.
Lynn last captained the Heat in 2015-16 and was crowned the Big Bash’s player of the tournament after blasting 378 runs in eight matches.

Kiwi star Brendon McCullum has captained the Heat in recent tournaments, but the honours will now return to the local Brisbane product.
“Let’s have plenty of fun,” Lynn said.
“We go out and play with instinct. We like to go after the bowlers and bring the excitement and fans alive.”
“If we do that we will have a great tournament and plenty of fun.”

The Heat will boast a team chock full of international experience with former Test players Matt Renshaw, Joe Burns, Marnus Labuschagne and James Pattinson joining T20 stars Lynn and McCullum.
Lynn said he wanted to lead by his actions on the field which included aggressive captaincy and exhilarating batting.
“I want to make sure I’m a leader,” he said.
“I’m not a big talker in the changeroom so I want to make sure I lead by actions and out in the middle.
“When I had the captaincy a couple of years ago I thought I did that really well. Hopefully I can replicate that and take ownership and be really accountable for the group.
“I’m a good place and hitting the ball well so touch wood I can start the tournament well.”
The Heat are hoping for a sell-out crowd in excess of 30,000 for the Strikers game, the first match of the expanded BBL this summer.
