Melbourne Stars have unveiled paceman Jackson Bird as their last signing for the summer.
The Herald Sun understands Bird, 31, has agreed to return to the Big Bash club he left for the Sydney Sixers four summers ago.
The former Test quick will lead the green team’s attack along with Scott Boland.
The right-arm quick has a Twenty20 economy rate of 7.94 and took a career-best 4/31 against Melbourne Renegades in 2013.
Bird’s signature will lock in Melbourne’s 18-man roster which has undergone a facelift since collecting last season’s wooden spoon.
The Stars have farewelled captain John Hastings, Bob Quiney, James Faulkner (Hurricanes) and Englishmen Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright.
